I wouldn't mind being a Browns fan in the sense that they are going to be running the ball pretty fucking well, and for a while with those two backs. .. But I would rather pull for sam/baker than dirty doc watson.
In all other respects it's kinda a wash with two teams that probably won't get a sniff of the post season for AT LEAST a few years

I want to say the Panthers, since the trade agreement had been completed for a while with the hold up being negotiations with Mayfield/Panthers. Browns agreed up to 10.5 million and it sounds like that's as far as they will go.

Man you think between timmy B, Deshaun foster, stephen davis, deangelo williams, Jonathan stewart, cmc panthers fans would learn to not take rb health for granted.

Mayfield has been up and down, and maybe that's what he is for the rest of his career, but his ups have been over extended periods, including a rookie of the year caliber season on a horrible Browns team with an interim HC, and a 2020 season where he potentially had Cleveland within a random-ass, Chad Henne scramble of making the AFC Championship.

On the other hand, Sam Darnold hasn't looked good since his sophomore year at USC (FIVE years ago, by the way), which was really condensed into three massive, fluky games. Before that, he was a non-descript HS recruit who threw for less than 800 yards over his varsity career, who the Trojans were actually trying to convert to linebacker. He's never been a good quarterback, at any point in his life, for longer than two or three games. So I would actually consider it a significant upgrade, although that's probably more reflective of Darnold being a moribund, spaghetti noodle-armed quarterback who drags down an entire football team. Baker will at least make defenses think about plays over the top, which is something the Panthers haven't had since pre-weird wardrobe Cam.

Go ahead and mark my words now. Baker is going to miss 2-3 games this year and Sam will start. In those starts, he's going to limit his mistakes and play well enough that any loss will be pinned on the defense or the team just being outplayed. In those games he will have flashes of brilliance, just like he always does. And when the season is over, some poor franchise will buy the "young quarterback who just took a long time to develop" storyline and give him a decent contract, thinking they got a bargain. Then he will regress again and spend the next five to ten years holding a clipboard.

Mayfield and his wife, Emily were made for each other. Her Instagram account has a plethora of self serving, look at me post. It's a pity she will be stretched by one of the defensive players.
