i never really had what you call a "full" recovery. i'm not sure if anyone ever has. my treatment came from chiropractic care, aka. physiatry (muscle stem therapy, adjustment, myofacial release, core strengthening, and my favorite the deep tissue massage.) this treatment was over a course of time, some will dispute this type of treatment but i gave it a shot and it worked for me. all of the above gave me a general education about having a pinched nerve and what i should and should not be doing to aggravate it further. sometimes i dont even know its there and others, like recently, it flares up and nags at me daily. the doc told me not be jogging anymore (due to the impact) but instead to hit the gym. although nothing replaces the runners high i got from running long distances, i have been able to work more muscle groups including my core group plus get my cardio on the eliptical trainers. sadic will crack on me but i've taken body building rather seriously these last three years since my diagnosis. the only meds i took were some anti-inflamitory (naproxin) but i did not like what they did to my stomach so i put them down and will only take them as a last resort now. i've always heard that surgery (shaving the disc) was to be avoided at all costs but my friend, who is a tri-athlete and in his 40's, got the surgery and is back at full throttle with no scar tissue problems at all. my boss, on the other hand, has had two "shavings" and the first one was a nightmare. he has to literally walk on egg shells for fear or rupturing his disc again. one of these days i may need to have soemthing done but i'll cross that bridge when i get there. just be careful.

I'm getting better but it's always in the back of my mind if tomorrow will be better or will it be worse. It feels ok now although I can still feel it.

I just miss going to the gym but I'm going to sit out for at least another week...maybe two and when I do return to the gym, I'll be on the bike :)

    I'm off the meds now....

I went to the gym yesterday and everything pops. All my joints, EVERYTHING! constantly....

3 weeks away from the gym...wow....time to slowly move back into it...
