B&B's Day at Camp - Episode 1.5

I think 27 played outside in the last few games, POs and SB. I think 26 played the slot. I've re-watched all those games and notice he wasn't bad.

 

He was pretty shitty, actually.

 

Have you really watched him closely? He got picked on a lot. He gave up some little stuff, sure, most everyone does. He made some decent plays. He had a good SB. He is physical and makes tackles well in the run game. He never really got burned at the end last year for a scab.

I mean he isn't great, a solid backup and I just wonder how he stacks up against the rooks.

 

The cornerback position right now is somewhere between where it was in 2013, and first half of 2014. We're not quite at Antoine Cason/Melvin White levels, because I think Bradberry can be a solid player and Bene has exhibited at least one decent year, but it's not an ideal situation either. Gettleman is betting on Short having another dominant year and Ealy being the force he was in Santa Clara. If those two things don't happen, we probably won't be a playoff team. I don't see how we can get consistent stops on defense based on what I've seen from the corners so far. We'll have to get somewhere close to the kind of pressure we got in 2013 to mask the CB issue.


I have no doubt that Short will have a monster contract year, and personally I'm bullish on Ealy, but we'll see.
