Atlanta Braves: A 21-year relationship will come to end after 2004. Guy Cutright of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports the Braves have announced they are relocating their Double A franchise from Greenville, South Carolina to Jackson, Mississippi, the home of a new, $22 million stadium. Jackson lost the Generals at the end of the 2000 season when they moved to Round Rock, Texas and promptly set all kinds of Double A attendance records. That Jackson affiliation played in the Texas League, while this one will remain in the Southern League. Any Braves star of recent vintage is going to have Greenville on their resumes. Chipper and Andruw Jones, Tom Glavine, Kevin Millwood and Javy Lopez all spent time there on the way up. John Smoltz was in the Tigers chain for Double A, but has had three different rehab assignments in Greenville, which is a convenient 150 miles from Atlanta.

I think the Braves wanted a new stadium in Greenville. Did they not get it?

    Stadium deal?

I thought the city offered a $18 million deal for a new stadium.
