Can it get any worse? Tom Glavine put on the DL today with an elbow injury. Tonight's scheduled starter Jair Jurrjens sprained an ankle going down the freaking dugout steps last night, he's scratched from tonight's game. Smoltz had surgery on Tuesday, Soriano is hurting and looking to go back on the DL. Add to that Hampton or Gonzalez have yet to throw a pitch between them. Oh, yea Chuck James is on the DL too.

 

Looks like a lot of minor leaguers are going to get a chance to pitch in the majors soon..

Braves are so banged up they have only 3 outfielders on the Active Roster.

 

Managers win or lose one run ball games.The Braves lost their MLB record 22nd straight one run game on the road today at Texas.They are currently 3-19 this season in one run games.As hard as it is to say,maybe Bobby should exit the stage gracefully.

 

I can't understand how Cox is to blame. The bullpen has looked like a MASH unit all year. The batting order is different every day because of injuries. The team is at or near .500 and when you take a look at what was considered the starting rotation in April....Smoltz is gone, Glavine is on the DL, Hapton has yet to throw a pitch, James is on the DL. Gonzalez has just returned, Soriano is out and might not return. If that's Cox's fault then fire him but of course it's not. The one run thing is more than anything if you follow the team a lack of hitting with men on base. The team is close to the league lead in that category. It's also a reflection of a bullpen that changes almost nightly because of injuries. If Cox were to be fired, they're would be a revolt in the Braves clubhouse.

 

I didn't say fire him.I said maybe it's time for Bobby to get off the stage gracefully.Like exit on his own terms.This will be three straight seasons with no post season for the Braves if they once again fail to make the playoffs.Yes...the Braves have had their share of injuries this year as have a lot of other teams.The Red Sox for one come to mind with tons of injuries this season.

Managers win and lose one run games with the moves they make during the game.The Braves have played teams close this year,but continue to come up short in the close ones.22 straight one run road loses is really hard to believe.When teams win by 10 runs or lose by ten runs a manager has little to do with the outcome.It's the close games where managers earn their keep.Bobby has been miserable with his moves in the close games this season.Hope they can turn it around,but they have to start winning some close ones.

 

I don't think anybody has had as many injuries as the Braves, or at least as crucial. Almost every pitcher has been out at least once this year, and most of them are out right now.

If Bobby is doing so horribly in games then what are some examples? In all of the games that I have watched this year I haven't seen many that I questioned and none that would suggest that he was doing a miserable job.

 

4 wins and 20 losses in one run games.That's a miserable job in close (one run games).If the Braves were playing .500 ball in one run games they would be leading the NL east.

Once again managers win and lose one run games.Good managers will figure a way to win close games.For close to a year now the Braves have failed miserably in close games.By far the worst in MLB.It's gotten to where if the game is close late I expect the Braves to lose.That's a terrible feeling.

I hope they can turn it around.Even with a losing record they are still right in the hunt for the NL east.
