Makes you wish the Hornets were still here, no? I mean we would have something good to look at :( . . . . What's there to look forward to on the local sports scene now? 49er hoops? The inaugural WACHOVIA CHAMPIONSHIP next May ?

I really wish Fasani was more accurate. You can't teach athleticism - it's really hard to teach patience and poise and things like that - but it's awful damn hard to teach accuracy.

    The shutout is preserved.

Someone hand me another :barf: bag

Easy sds70 on the 49er hoops. This season looks like it's gonna be very promising.

Aggregate score of the two meetings:

    Falcons 71
    Panthers 0

No way do we allow Fasani to be anything more than a #3. NONE.

We are going to bring in a vet and a high pick on a QB. No other way around it.

We can't depend on any of these current 3 to be in the top 2.

I certainly hope you're right. With as few looks as this team gets, we need someone at least average in accuracy. The difference between Weinke and Fasani in accuracy is how long it takes to deliver and how far out of the pocket Fasani will be.

So Piper must've been watching the same game me and Bear and Larry and NFL.com had on. :D

Werd up, werd down, werd all around. We need 2 more QB's, minimum. I'd prefer to get three though. I'd start half the back-ups in this league over the three we have. I am now conviced it's not Henning. He's only calling plays these guys are capaple of running. Take away Peete's accuracy and he's got zero to offer.

These 3 QB's need to go see the wizard. They all need something.

Well, I just wanted to contribute to the shortest game thread ever. The QB blah kinda extended it beyond a little too.

What did he do that made you think he has no future with us (as a starter, that is). I would understand if you were talking about Weinke, but Fasani. Granted he didn't do anything to say he IS our QB of the future, but he also didn't do poorly. Heck he was 4/7 with one throw away and one high pass that should have still been caught, and he can't be blamed for our OL's open door policy. So I guess I am not sure what you saw that promted you to single him out (of coarse I just read the last page of this thread since I was too disgusted to read any more, so I might have missed something).

Now I am not saying Fasani is our long-term answer, he has not shown any definitive signs either way. And it would be foolish to put all our eggs in his basket, especially since he is still green and a couple of years from being ready. So I actually advocate picking a QB in the 1st, and signing a solid veteran in FA (someone not named Plummer). Unless he really surprises everyone the last few games this year, there is no way we can wait to see if he develops into a solid starter. But if he does, and we already have one in this years pick, then he would at least be good depth and bring a nice return in a trade.

I think Henning is a pretty poor judge here. One example is his pressing desire to make Lamar a feature back. Dee Brown is not great but he offers up a different look than Lamar... they should be splitting carries. I put that blame on Henning. Fasani is a pretty accurate passer on the run, he should encourage him to roll out, not stay in a rapidly collapsing pocket.

I agree about the 3 QB's needing to see the wizard, But if you think about all the things they went to see the Wizard for:

Dorothy - Bitch just wanted to get home.
    Lion - Needed courage
Tin Man - Needed a heart
    Scarecrow - Needed a brain

(I think I got those right) - anyway.

I've not argued with any since the preseason that Fasani is not ready and no he may or may not develop. But of the 3 QBs we have, if you look at all the attributes a QB needs, what he lacks compared to Winky is easier to teach. You can't teach Winky to be athletic and make plays, you can teach Fasani to not run as much... hopefully he would be the only one of the 3 you would keep... he is obviously the best athlete.

Wiggin, I'm not saying we need to "release" Fasani or anything like that. He's a good kid who tries his damndest. But for next season, we can't depend on him moving up to 2. He's too raw. I'm willing to give him some benifit of the doubt. With that said, no, I don't think he'll ever a starter because I suspect he dosen't have the vision, which no, you can't teach. To early to tell though for sure. We have a pick invested in him, and he has some skills.

But no, we, at the very least, need a vet and a fairly high pick in here quick. Not neccessarily a first rounder, though I think we will, but first 3 rounds is a must.

And at that point I'd bring back little boy Hasselbeck to push Fasani in case he doesn't show improvement.

That's the thing Wiggin, he has to assert that he can be that player before he deserves mention of being that player. Otherwise, we still have 3.5 billion potential franchise QBs to go - and that should last us about five seasons worth at this rate.

    >>Heck he was 4/7

against prevent. Half of those passes he got spooked against a three man line and that doesn't include the sacks...offhand, I know there were two in a row, I can't remember if there was a third, but there was also a rushing attempt in there. It'd be neat to think that sideline pass was a throw away attempt, but it was also the same type sideline pass he'd always force into Bright in preseason. And yeah, he was throwing away into double coverage.

He does have a future here. Weinke's cap and Peete's age and durability suggest they won't be here. I think Fasani has some great attributes, the ones that people who get enamored with his athleticism miss...actual QB attributes. But he's not near ready.
