I DL'ed it. Only heard a couple of cuts so far. I'll give it a listen on the commute home.

    Thanks.

I chased you down on fb, haha. Larry too. But, I was hoping to get at least a few scathing remarks, whether people downloaded it or not.

First full listen....opinions subject to change on a minute by minute basis.

Some of it reminds me of a little J Mascis early days. Not sure if it's the progressions or what, but that's what kinda popped into my head on a couple of songs. Maybe the most on "Butchered." Not sure why.

I liked the sub 3:00 songs the best. More energy. More three chord attitude.

Some real pop-punk flourishes in there, too. "iron" worked for me. It walks that line.

"Promenade" sounds like a Conor Oberst cut. I kinda dig it.

"So Long" I'm not sure about. I like the edge but it lost me during the solos. Probably would dig it better live.

"Painless" almost got me. Vocals probably kept it from being my favorite cut. It took a while to build, even for a sub 3:00, but it got there. I really wanted super pissed by the 2nd chorus, though. I kept waiting for the Fuck You payoff on the vocals.

Your mileage may vary. You guys sound a lot tighter than before but without losing that raw edge.

Second Dino Jr comparison. That's never bad.

Yeah, all the vocals are one take, probably should have rerecorded those, but we did the album in about 2 days, so I can't complain. The guy producing the album was pretty ticked about how we played the strummed intro to painless, so he didn't put as much work into that song either. He was kind of tempermental, but oh well.

Iron is probably my favorite song to play live now. We have a new drummer and he's killer.

I saw these guys back in 1985 in detroit. They opened for Huey Lewis and the News. Not bad.

Sponge meets Green Day with a touch of Jane's Addiction and a southern twist.

Promenade reminds me of a Thin Lizzy song I can't quite place. Probably my favorite song on the album.

    Secret Service rocks.

    Iron is pretty good too.

Painless would be my favorite except it sounds like the lead vocal is trying a bit too hard. Maybe a differnt key or something, I dunno.

    Good stuff PB.
