What I've noticed is that Ron is still trying that wonky "hybrid" bullshit that eventually got him fired in Carolina. Sure, you can "do more things", but the net result is a collection of talented players who don't mesh together.

He's also trying to play more aggressive man coverage about a year and a half after it was woke. The dominant defenses are switching back to zone.

 

I wonder if we're seeing a few sandlot QBs that went to good situations not able to sustain the change to having to carry the full load-Kaep might be instructive here but the 49ers ruinous coaching decisions after* harbaugh make it hard to pin it all on him.

Peak chiefs had the same really good line you needed to keep an alex smith viable and the solid running game that came with it those have fallen off and now mahomes is starting to make hollywood passes every play-the comparison to Mike Sherman Packers are tempting. Their defense is similarly going boom or bust.

Not sure about seattle Russ seems to be skirting blame so far but I wonder when the worm turns on the guy pulling the trigger for not sustaining drives. The offense cratered hard last year after a bright start. Their defense has a safety playing linebacker to help juice the pass rush.

Even if stone hands Chuba can't get through a hole without having to make a lateral cut, I still wouldn't be in a hurry to bring CMC back.

 

They could find a happy medium of working him back in as a role player. I wouldn't be handing him the ball 22 times right away, but I want defenses having to account for him on 3rd and 6.

 

I know that most of the ‘21 rook QBs will get better eventually and have NFL careers ahead of them but I’m glad none are proving any of the hypers right. Hopefully in the future all the Hyppy McHyperons will restrain themselves. .. but I doubt it. I want to believe that in the future smarter coaching staffs will be better armed now to convince dumbass higher-uppers not to insist on drafting QBs in the first round. .. because kiper, mcshay, and the other hack hypnotists rank QBs as top 10 picks should not mean shit. .. much like biased mindless media opinion should not mean shit
