I was hoping App. St. could go down to Statesboro and put a dent into Ga. Southern. It's early in the 4th quarter, and the score is Ga. Southern 54, App. St. 0.

Was App. St. that over-confident after beating Furman in a wild game last week, or is Ga. Southern really that good?!? Damn, I hope not. :scared2:

BTW, WCU is currently up on Wofford, 9-7. I thought WCU had a chance coming into this one. They've got a pretty decent defense, when the offense doesn't turn the ball over.

yeah, WCU gave Ga. Southern a tough game, too. I was hearing big things about ya'll's defense before y'all came to Furman.

I was looking at the I-AA Rankings. I think part of that Ga. Southern score reflects a determination by Ga. Southern to make a bid for no. 1 this week. The current no. 1, So. Illinois, has to play no. 4 Western Kentucky tonight at 7pm. Even if So. Illinois wins, Ga. Southern could possibly pass them if So. Illinois doesn't win big like Ga. Southern did over a ranked team.

Blame me, I went there. No team I follow will ever win anything big.

They only moved up to no. 2 after App. St. beat Furman, the previous no. 2.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have lots of love for App. St. especially since they've beat Furman 3 years in a row, but I do respect them. I hate Ga. Southern with a passion. When the Southern Conference finally got rid of Marshall back in the early 90s, Ga. Southern stepped in and seemed to take their place at the top of the conference. Marshall and consequently Ga. Southern have been to the Southern Conference was Fl. State has been to the ACC.

well WCU held them to 38 points and under 300 yards rushing, I think they had something like a 50 points per game average before then. Their rushing yards per game is crazy too. They still lead the country in both those categories.

I just looked at Ga. Southern's schedule. They are now 5-0 in the conference. The only conference games they have left are the Citadel (who Furman is currently beating 17-0 in the 2nd qtr.) and Furman. If Furman doesn't beat Ga. Southern, then Ga. Southern sweeps the conference.

That would leave Furman, App. St., and Wofford scrapping for a hopeful 2nd playoff bid (after the conference winner). I think at least one of them could go, based upon the current national rankings (though there's 4 more weeks to play in the regular season).
