If Duke, Carolina or WF wins the ACC Tourney, they are assured of a #1 seat I would imagine.

Duke's bench might become an issue in the ACC tournament because they play three games in three days. In the NCAA tournament you play a game and have a day off then play again. Then you have a week off. Duke's bench wont be a big issue in the tournament.

Well it's not really a week off, 5 days off. Throw in the traveling and being on the road, it's not as easy as you seem to think.

What he means is the tournament should ONLY have as much bearing when Duke has a strong team with a deep bench.

Winning the tournament should never mean as much as winning the regular season. You have to be consistently good all year to do that. Winning the tournament means you got hot for a few days.

I agree but unfortunately the conference tournament winner gets the automatic bid, not the regular season champ. But of course the regualr season champ should be in no matter if they win the tournament or not.

Well you can look at it two ways, the hottest teams as you said get the nod since they are playing better now.

Or if it's the season that matters, so say team A was undefeated and has a 4 game lead on all other teams but loses their last 3 games of the regular season and should still get the number 1 seed? So they are still the regular season champ, and say in the tourney they win their first game but then lose the next, so not winning the tourney.

I think you have to consider all things about a team regular season, conference tourney, whether or not they have an actual bench, hurt players or whatever.
