The reason for Florida State's offense not doing well, and their slide lately is because Mark Richt left FSU and became Head Coach at UGA. He is what made that offense go.

He's also the guy 99% of the people hollering "fire Larry Coker" want to replace him with.

Wrong, but it's understandable that an ignorant fan of multiple college teams such as yourself would think so. Losing Richt was undeniably a big deal, but he didn't make the players play well. The play-calling under Jeff Bowden has been suspect at times, but it is not the principle cause for the Seminoles' offensive struggles.

No YOU are wrong.... The departure of FSU's coordinators has, without doubt, had a huge effect on their performance. From Brad Scott...to Amato...to Richt (probably the biggest hit they took).

Part of a coaches job is to teach and motivate. Richt is great at both. Obviously Jeff isn't.

This will be my only post in this thread. :lalala:

First, I don't know how you expect anyone to take you seriously if you didn't even know that Amato was never a coordinator at FSU. As for Brad Scott, the Seminoles saw no appreciable dropoff on offense after he left. Note that I'm not suggesting that Jeff Bowden is just as good a coach as Richt, since I don't believe that he is. I'm saying that simple-minded college fans who can only make post hoc ergo propter hoc (that's the correct usage, BigVito) analyses are the ones who pin FSU's decline solely on Richt's departure. Anyone who actually knows football can watch the games and see that the offensive players just aren't playing as well as they used to, so it isn't just a matter of play-calling. Part of it may be that FSU just isn't recruiting good enough linemen anymore, or running backs who will actually hit a hole, or quarterbacks who can read a defense. Certainly it's no coincidence that the Seminoles' struggles have coincided with Miami's resurgence, making it that much harder to recruit the best prospects. And as for actual teaching, the position coaches would be the guys responsible for instructing players on how to perform, not the offensive coordinator.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc is easier for simple-minded fans to understand, however, so that's what they believe.
