It was actually pretty decent, although I wasn't looking forward to it at all. In the first round, Andre Iguodala had perhaps the dunk of the night. AI was standing behind the backboard and tossed it off the back of the glass. Wallace went up, grabbed the ball behind the glass at an angle, glided under the rim and threw it down backwards on the other side. He also had some really impressive dunks in the finals, including throwing it off the glass, grabbing it with his left hand, bringing it around his back to the right hand and throwing it down. I can't remember the first dunk he had in the Finals, but it was a 50 and amazing (something between the legs and twisty, I can't remember).

The little man Nate Robinson won the contest though, but I don't know. Don't get me wrong, his dunks were amazing too. I think Iguodala did enough to win, but oh well. Who cares, this was the best dunk contest in years. Now, Nate claims to be 5'9, but I'm not sure about that either. He didn't look much if any taller than Spud Webb later on standing side by side, and Spud certainly never had this kids ups or power. Alright, little man dunking was enough to get to the Finals, and Nate saved the best for last. His first dunk was better than his score, but he invoked Birdman memories with many misses. At first he was throwing it off the glass, catching it, going between the legs, and dunking. Amazing at his size, but he couldn't get it down. You could see it was his mission to do this dunk, I think ESPN said he missed 16 times. Eventually he just jumped, went between his legs and dunked it. Incredible hang time and height at his size, but the misses definitely killed the score.

His next dunk you've all seen on ESPN by now. He took Spud out, had him put on the retro jersey, and bounce the ball off the court. Robinson jumped over a standing Spud and threw it down one handed. Crowd explodes and there was a dunk off. Andre appeared out of ideas, but had a nice dunk. Nate, however, still had a dunk. This one took a few times too due to the pass, but when he got it down it was pretty damn sweet. He would jump just past midcourt, and quickly go through both legs with the ball while hanging, then fling the ball to the glass. He then jumped up, caught the ball and dunked it.

All in all it was an exciting contest with many new dunk ideas. The kids definitely brought it last night.
