The book blows away anything they can put to screen anyway, even though Gene Wilder was good....same goes for James and the Giant Peach and Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator.

Danny DiVito might be better than Johnny Depp seeing as inthe book Wonka is prtrayed as being a short guy.

I do like how they used the same actor for all the Umpa Loompas and just took different shots of him doing things.

yeah, the umpa loompas were okay. they didn't do a great job of the singing tho. it seemed the lip syncing was off. i suspect they had to sacrifice the lip sync to sync his dance moves (dancing by yourself would be difficult to nail the same marks everytime -- dancers sync up when together by reacting to each other). it was pretty good, tho.

i didn't like how he made wonka pasty, tho. seriuosly. i realize burton is a big fan of black and purple and pasy skin, but please. can we get a break from it for once?

yeah I don't know why he did that either...I probably won't see this in the movies...but they also made the chocolate river look like real chocolate, not like brwon water in the original movie, so that looked yummy.

okay, my kids and i went to see this at the theatre even and i died laughing. all i can say is what kind of drugs was burton on when he wrote it and how much was depp on when they filmed it. if i did drugs i am sure it would be a hoot to see while high. my kids, all of them, loved it. sang the songs all the way home.

a night at the movies - me and my son

two tickets, a medium pop corn and two medium sodas.

    26 FUCKING dollars

    thats outrageous.

The movie was pretty good I guess - pretty close to the original. I never have beena big willy wonka fan but it was better than I was expecting. My son liked it, thats all that matters

My daughter and I went to see it Sunday. I'm not sure if the movie was that great because my daughter and I cut-up the whole time. We're still singing those stupid songs. :woot:
