I think the Bobcats are going to open a regional network that will broadcast all non-national tv games of the team. Dont back me up on this, I just read it in the observer one day I think.

if you shell out the cash

for EA Sports' NBA ( i think it's EA Sports), you can create your own Bobcats team.

The logo and arena are in the game already.

And you can watch them all you want.

U mean they have the new arena already in the game? Man, that's fast :D :D !!!!! Or are they still at the old Coliseum ? ? ? ?

I've heard sometime next month they are going to announce the new regional sports network (hmmmmmm, perhaps they will do it at the Bobcats Fanfest this Saturday :) . . . . ). If its set up like Empire Sports in Western NY (which airs the NHL Sabres and area college teams) , they will have a pre game show, the game, and then a post game show where folks can call in and comment on the game. Not sure who is going to be the voice of the Bobcats . . . Hoopsradio maybe :) ? ? ? ?

I am so down with Hoopsradio as THE voice of The Bobcats!! Enough of The Man (and DJ Stout and Packer) keeping Hoops down!!! He's not a studio guy!!! He's all about some play-by-play action!!!

Where is Hoops anyway? Did he follow the Hornets to Nawleans or something? Or is he doing color commentary for Coker?

Hoops is around. I saw him in a Panthers Ticket thread a week or so ago. He's probably ticked off that Gary Williams is getting ESPN Regional PxP gigs while he's still doing...? What is it he does again?

I'm hearing the same thing, SDS. The TV deal for the Bobcats will be announced soon and there may be a possibility of some pretty decent college sports coverage, too. Especially of the non-revenue kind. Maybe that's why the ACC never signed a deal with CSTV?

I hope to know more by the end of next week. I'll try to post if I hear anything of interest.

BTW, is this Hoops guy in the biz? I thought he was a marketing/media relations type.

    Short History of Hoopsradio

He was a local guy who did PbP for area college teams (he might've been on TV, but don't hold me to that) who found his way to the old Charlotte.com Sportstalk boards . . . . WFNZ a couple of years announced that they were getting ready to start a new show (actually, it was a SEC orientated sportstalk show that Packer was moving to Charlotte to make into a national show, but the deal fell through at the last minute). Packer & GerryV encouraged him to send in a demo tape, but Hoopsradio backed off. he was working for a minor league baseball team in SoCal at the time, but I think he is back in the Carolinas now (not sure exactly where) . . . .

I think a new Carolinas based regioinal sports network would be a boon to 1) the area CIAA teams 2) Southern Conference hoops/sports and 3) more coverage of Carolinas pro & college teams (and also NASCAR). As I've said in the past, I think FOX SPORTS SOUTH spend too much time on Atlanta teams & the SEC vs. ACC/Hornets (when they were here)/Panthers/Hurricanes. I think the key for the team will be signing up non Time Warner Cable outlets to carry the station; They don't need a problem like the Hornets are having in New Orleans with COX SPORTS TV (many non COX cable outlets in that area still haven't reached an agreement to carry the station, which prevents many Hornets fans in the area from watching the game).

Down the line, it would be nice if the Hurricanes would get on Carolinas SportsNet also (my proposed name :) .. ). During the spring/summer months, air Bulls & Knights games and SoCon/ACC baseball also. I think Scheer/Sabates should look at moving up from the ECHL to the AHL and then move the team to the new Uptown Arena (remember folks, CRICKET ARENA will be turning 50 years in a couple of years . . . . I think the San Antonio AHL team moved into the new SBC Center when it opened last year vs. staying at the ancient Freeman Coliseum) and then get about 20-30 AHL Charlotte games on the air to help fill the winter schedule. I know that FOX18 . . EEEEEEEEERrrrrrrrrrrrr, FOX CHARLOTTE is the Panthers primary broadcast partner right now, but I'm sure Carolinas Sportsnet could still do a players orienated show each week (either from Ericcsion Stadium or from some bar/restaurant Uptown) . . .
