Anyone go to the NO Jazz Fest or ever been there?

Three of us drove 750 miles to New Orleans. Stayed three nights, caught 2 shows, went to the Jazz Festival and made numerous trips to Bourbon Street.

Never knew how bad a city could smell. Bourbon street smells like a dumpster.

The food was great. Lots of little resturants with good prices.

Went to see Galactic on Thursday at the Saenger Theater. Best show I've ever seen - elegant theater, beautiful women - band layin down tight grooves until about 3:30 in the morning.

Gov't Mule/Les Claypool played on Friday night at ... don't remember, but it's right across the street from the Saenger. (also only 5 blocks from our hotel) Another great show.

Saw a lot of great bands at the Jazz Festival, but don't know many of the names. The memory is a little hazy.

Found all types of bands on Bourbon Street playing on the street or in clubs all times of the day.

 

I have never been but have always wanted to go. I think I would enjoy that more tha Mardi Gras.

Very high up on my to-do list

 

I went to Jazzfest when Phish was there a few years ago. Fun but very crowded. Mardis Gras, everyone should go once.

I love to visit New Orleans, been 4 times. Twice for Jazz Fest, once for Mardi Gras, and once for a cruise.

 

Was there in 2000. Dont remember much except that festival was a very small aspect of what was really going on.
