Nice to see Fowler write about this, I was livid when those idiots couldn't figure out the situation and instead blamed some sort of invisible hand of cheating.

    Who cares?

I doubt the time is kept by Panther eployees anyway so it makes no sense.

I immediately realized that Fouts had failed to notice that time had gone back on the clock...I told my wife that since he was with CBS and Denver was the AFC team that he was routing for the Broncos and his true colors came out at the perceived slight.

It's more important than whatever stupid nickname our RBs wish to call themselves.

The whole broadcast was predictably AFC-centric but I'm not sure this had a lot to do with the afc/nfc thing. I think they got confused and excited, not sure why they accused us of cheating (and like chip said, the thought that we somehow had control of the situation is laughable.)

I re-watched the game and it was more annoying the second time. And colossally stupid of them.

Admittedly I'm high strung and the play was ultimately meaningless. It just rubbed me the wrong way, especially the insinuation that we would cheat in an NFL game.

It's just funny how the extra 7 seconds put back on the clock (I missed the explanation during the game, did the ref make it on TV or was he just seen in the stadium?) was supposed to help the Broncos but instead led to a fumble and our team getting called into question for basically the last 2 minutes before halftime.

The non-apology at halftime was lame too, but I was just surprised they acknowledged the situation at all.

IIRC the with the TO occured, he went through the motions then said...

"please reset the game clock to 17 seconds, at this time, Denver will run the ball, it will be fumbled and the Panthers will recover, then have enough time to run a play to center the ball for the kicker and he will then attempt a field goal"

it didnt seem like home cooking to me.:SmokinBanana: (the ref did say to reset the game clock to 17 seconds).

K well maybe you can go discuss that in your own thread. I don't believe I ever insinuated that it was on the same level as game discussion between the Giants and the Panthers. It was something that irked me personally and I was glad that one of the local writers had something to say about it.
