They prefer you do it in about 5 hours. I'm thinking I'll be more like 12.

    Savio,
i run in the kayano's too. believe it or not, i picked up a new pair at the Nordstrom's half yearly sale after christmas for less than 100 bucks. but they didn't have them at the charlotte store the last time i was there. i also picked up a pair at the Fleet Feet Outlet at Concord Mills a couple of years ago for a nice price...again less than 100 bucks.

I gotta get my ass back out on the streets. I am thinking about doing the Half Marathon in Charlotte on April 8. The weather up here isn't exactly runner friendly this time of year though.

I've tried them all and now run in New Balance. Not sure why but they work best for me and they are not too expensive. I put 25 miles/week on them and they usually last about 6 months.

That's the way to do it. Try them all and when you find a brand that fits you stick with it. Don't go chasing the marketing or newest thing. I was just lucky to find Asics early on. I've been using them since high school. They just fit my feet and running style the best.

Your last sentence is the key too. Shoes wear out pretty fast when you are putting decent weekly mileage on them. It's more important to buy a cheaper pair of shoes and keep them fresh than to buy expensive ones and wear them out.

Speaking of which - I need to re-up.

running is for pussies, unless you're running to the store to get more beer. I usually wear by $10 Keds when making a beer run.

You are right about how fast they wear out. I just wear them to run in so often they look new until you turn them over. You can save your ankles and knees a lot of trouble in the future by buying new running shoes frequently.

If you are just a casual jogger, meaning you run something like 12 miles or less/week, you can probably get away with one or two pairs/year but anything over 20 mile/week and you should probably be going through 3-4 pairs/year.
