You're not very good at sarcasm are you?
    1) My point is that any quarterback should have a good day against the shamecocks.
    2) I wasn't saying Shockley should get the Heisman that was somebody else who I also believe was being sarcastic.
    3) In plain engish for you, the shamecocks have never been a factor in the SEC and yet every year we have to listen to how "this is the year". Once you can even win the SEC East albeit the SEC then you can talk a little smack.
4)USC has won nothing and it is yet to be determined if your coach can win without the recruiting base he had in FL.

    I'm excellent at sarcasm.
    1) So why didn't Shockley?
    2) Homer
    3) In plain 'engish', I don't talk smack about how this is the year because I'm not a tried-and-true Gamecock fan.
    4) Agreed.

Uh...Sly...you didn't follow the whole news story. He stripped some scholarships from guys that didn't work...bad attitudes. He gave 2 back to the guys that kicked it up a notch...the other 2 transferred. The other 7 were academic / legal casualties. Quite a few starters.

Basically he took a bunch of freshmen and 2nd stringers and beat Florida, Tennessee, and Arkansas. Not too bad. NOW he has all of those guys back + a revamped OL.

Oh...and Mr. Duke...you should be sucking Spurriers cock (pun intended). The only time you guys were anything at football was when he was there.

At least Duke was something once....USC....a history of mediocrity. Duke has played in every major bowl with several wins. What has USC done?

There comes a point where blind devotion like that in the face of such averageness is disturbing

Shockley played absolutely crappy against the Gamecocks. Their defense shut him down. South Carolina has a top 25 recruiting class as well, which doesn't necessarily mean success in the SEC since Florida, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, and maybe some others had higher recruiting classes in the SEC, but it's a good start. People are expecting so much out of Spurrier because of what he did at Florida. His record speaks for itself, but he also had a ton of things working for him. He got the top players out of a state that is top 3 in producing high school football recruits, and he had a ton of people to choose from. South Carolina is about as good in high school football as North Carolina is (except NC keeps winning the Shrine Bowls lately :trophy: ). The thing that makes me think South Carolina will be better is Florida was historically like South Carolina before Spurrier took over. They never won an SEC title before Spurrier, and now it seems crazy to think Florida isn't a contender year in and year out. And if Mack Brown can make Carolina good, then Spurrier can do the same thing with South Carolina. They have a quality shot to come in 2nd in the SEC East. I think Auburn wins the west (JaMarcus Russell is overrated). If UGA beats South Carolina in the second game of the year, Georgia wins 10 games and Richt is named Coach of The Year in the SEC. It all depends on how well the Juniors and sophomores who never got any playing time will do. David Greene didn't play that well against South Carolina either except his Junior year. It took one of the best plays in UGA history by David Pollack to beat them when David Greene was a sophomore. The score will probably be 17-14 no matter who wins. It's going to be one of those ugly games. If South Carolina can run the ball at all they will win their first two games because UGA's linebackers are extremely overrated (especially Wheeler and Miller) and they lost 2 people off the D-Line and 3 to the NFL draft in the secondary. It should be an interesting year. Either way, Florida will win the East barring a complete collapse.

I'm not sold on Florida. Sure...they probably have some of the best athletes in the SEC...but that offense. I don't think the spread will work. Linebackers and DB's are too fast in the SEC. Plus Leake will get killed.
