I married into a family of Gamecocks, and we frequent their home games quite a bit during the year.

Cool. I have season tix. I should be there (hopefully) for every home game...again. I think we are looking at a 9 win season.

You must be a fan...you are right. Some have us with an outside shot of winning 10 this year.

If you don't beat Georgia second game of the year you should be shot. Stafford won't take over till late in the season, the game is in Columbia, and Joe Tereshinski will be QB for most of the game (probably), or at least to start the game out. 10 wins is a gigantic stretch. Tennessee is going to be a ton better and Florida is going to be extremely good and Clemson always seems to crush South Carolina know matter how good or bad the teams have been lately.

Although Blake Mitchell has some talent, I hope he will improve this year.

As a FANATIC with a ton of insider info I can tell you the team will be WAY different from last year.

Mitchell is now calling audibles at the line...not last year. They've added about 30% to the play book. Remember last year was Mitchell's first year as a starter and the team's first under Spurrier.

The running back Mike Davis was a true freshman last year. He sucked the first half, but kicked ass against the last 5 teams of the season. He would have killed 1000 yards at that pace. OH...our BEST RB, Cory Boyd is back.

Sidney Rice...well he's the best WR in the nation. The OTHER guy...Kenny McKinnley was the other starting WR. Last year? True Freshman. AND he was a QB in High School! Look for big numbers from him. AND Syvelle Newton is back...and so is Noah Whiteside...the guy that got injured, so Sidney ended up starting!

    OL will be much improved.

Look for the O to be 1 or 2 in the SEC this year. Not kidding.

On D? Well, the D line should be better. Of course, that's not saying much. But it should be better. LB's should be the same. My only concern is the secondary. We lost 2 underclassmen to the NFL. That'll hurt.

Oh, and Tennessee, Georgia, and Auburn are HOME games this year. Tennesee lost all of their STUD defensive front...I believe either the whole front 7 or 6 of them. I predict another down year. Fulmer will be gone in 2 more. I am SO glad to be playing Georgia early. Mid-season, Terashitski will be on the bench and Stafford will be starting.

So far we are having the best recruiting class in SC history. 1 5 star, 2 4 stars, and 1 high 3. The rumor is...there is another 4 star that has given a silent commitment...I'm betting it's either Cliff Matthews (stud DE from SC) or Stephen Garcia (QB out of FL...one of the tops in the country).

Gotta luv shamecock fans as they always are talking about next year because they never have a good year to talk about! Every year it's the same thing with you guys and I give you credit for being resilient, but the outcome won't be any different -- this time next year you'll be talking how great the coming season will be because 2006 was like all the others.

Same thing with beating Georgia as it's the same conversation every year. When you beat somebody we'll all take you a little more seriously.
