Antonio Freeman is getting little interest from other teams (other than the Eagles, Seahawks and two others). While he isn't what he used to be why have so many teams soured on him? I mean if Terance Mathis, Jeff Graham, Jake Reed and Keith Poole can keep getting rehashed with a new team why can't Freeman? I for one wouldn't mind signing him to a workable contract (500k?) with incentives and line him up along Moose while keeping Byrd as the #3.

Freeman has a big head and thinks he is worth more then he is.. thats why.

He was scheduled to make 4.3M with the Packers this year. The Packers wanted to drop that figure to about 1M. Freeman thought that was too much of a cut to accept, so he was eventually cut.

He then blasted the Packers saying he felt "insulted" by their offer. He went on to say that it wasnt about the money, he want to go to a team that was a contender and be the "go to guy" (he knew he would be no better then #2 in GB with Glenn and it hurt his little ego).

Now Im a Bears fan, but even I will admit that Green Bay is more of a contender then any team looking for a WR right now. So I dont think the odds of him finding a better situation then he would have had by staying in GB are not good. He wants to be the go to guy, on a contending team, and get paid about 2.5M/ year.. sorry Freeman.. time to face reality, you arent going to find the "perfect" situation out there. My guess is that he will try to find the most money he can.. because contrary to what he says in the media, I think it IS about the money with him.

I have a friend that works in the Packers organization and speaks highly of Freeman, man-to-man. However, although he wouldn't SAY anything negative, he implied that Freeman's greed would push him out of football before his ability would.
His ego is built by ESPN and recharged every year when he makes his ONE spectacular play per year. He drops alot of passes, too.
He needs to go to a team with a similar ego to his...the Cowboys and Redskins come to mind. I can see him in Philly with Reid having coached in GB before.

I still think that unless someone steps up with a barrel full of $$$$, he will eventually sign on for cheap money here in Baltimore. They are desparate for WR help at this point.

If I knew he could give us one year at 75% of his best year, I grab him in a heartbeat if he was willing to assume a back up or 2nd or 3rd type role.

You never can read into a guys mind, but If he does have left in him, I'd take a Freeman at his best over a Moose. Just my opinion.

If we wanted to win now, and we were in the position to win now, he'd be great. So would Cris Carter, but we're playing young guys. You don't want too many youngs guys learning when we get to where were' going. I think we could win now with a couple of moves, but where would we be next year?

I'd love to see us have Carter, Freeman, and Moose, with Byrd and Smith backing up and filling in, but it ain't going to happen.

I really don't know that AF has that much to give though. It's very Andre Reed.

I think he does. Farve was very clear on his opinion of Freeman. That's enough for me, really. Maybe Freeman doesn't have the success he had with a different QB, and people will say he's lost it, or he's slowed. But I think he's worth more than vet min., and wherever he lands, I'll no doubt pick him up in FF if he's not taken as solid 2nd or 3rd WR. I don't know, I guess it depends on where he is.

If he landed here, I'd pick him up in the 4th round of FF perhaps... if not then, maybe I would wait until the 8th... :D
