He's not worth that... the Dodgers overpaid for him just like they did for Furcal. They seem to like paying out the big bucks for ex-Braves...

yep. he's was the Dodgers last option. Dodgers needed a bat and needed to get Pierre out of center field. Now we'll have a better hitting and speed mix in the lineup and hopefully drive in more runs. Now, if we can fix the revolving door we call 3rd base and get a pitcher, we will be set.

oh yea, not to mention when an opposing pitcher is rounding 2nd, he knows he can score when a ball is hit to center because it takes about 4 bounces to the plate from center for Pierre to get the ball home. Jones's cannon will be worth every penny in helping our pitching staff control the game more.

Jones in his prime (up to last year) is the best defensive center fielder I have ever seen. He also is the most stubborn undisciplined hitter I have ever seen. If a pitcher throws him a fastball, he should be beaten with a tire iron. No excuse for a player who has been in the majors 10 or 11 years to be so completely clueless at the plate. Braves did the right thing saying, "Thanks, but no thanks".

Andruw for $36 over two is a much, much, much better deal than Torii Hunter for $90 over five. Jones' range is declining and he's an incredibly hard-headed hitter with major holes in his swing, but he's still a top 50 talent. Actually I'm not sure it even matters how much you pay someone in a deal that short. It's the 7 year Zito contracts that kill you.

so are you saying that Jones is a better player than Hunter? both are making 18 a year, and you said that jones is a better deal.

    Torii Hunter
    AVG .287 | HR 28 | RBI 107 | OBP .334 | SLG .505

    Andruw Jones
    AVG .222 | HR 26 | RBI 94 | OBP .311 | SLG .413

fairly close on paper. NL east has greater competition than the AL central (IMO, someone might prove me otherwise). I also think the NL east parks are a little harder to hit in than the AL central. (also debatable). I like the pickup in that the Dodgers aren't locked into a contract for a long period of time. Colletti has done a great job in his short time in the Dodgers front office.

Makes me scared to think what Aaron Rowand will get. Here's hoping the Phils get him back
