apparently, ty had an episode last night. he thought he was going to die. he couldn't breathe. we have no idea where it came from. he was screaming and crying freaked out at our door at 2:30 this morning saying that he couldn't breathe and there was something making his mouth sound weird. it did sound weird -- like whooping cough. he was gasping for air. it lasted abot 20 minutes before he could breathe without gasping, but it still wasn't "normal" breathing. it took abotu 60-90 minutes before he (and we) fell asleep. i thought we were going to go to the emergency room.

took him to the doctor today and he was put on a priority list to see an alergist (sometime in the next 3 days). but the doctor said that he could have another attack and if he does, it will be worse than this one and to call 911.

last night was very scary. i can't imagine what it will be like if he has another episode.

    he had the croop.

Turn the shower on as hot as it will go, close the curtain and sit him in the closed bathroom on the toilet and tell him to try to breath in as slow and as deep as he can.

possible, but he had no onset of symptoms -- fever or runny nose.

this came totally out of the blue. it's scary whatever it is.

My parents had the same thing with me and my brother both. We never had the fever or runny nose either. They would hear us in the middle of the night making that sound you mentioned. The shower trick usually worked. If that doesn't work, take him for a ride in the car with the windows open. Cool or cold air forced in his face will work wonders.
