You mean, it's possible for a GREAT college player to suck in the nba. No way, not from carolina, that DOESN'T happen. Oh well, all questions and comments are welcome. And, i checked out haywood per 48 numbers, and they still are not better than battier's for the most part.

I thought this was a thread about Carolina's team. They are struggling this year but things will be better next year. As far as college players in the NBA from Carolina, how about comparing Battier to, oh say Vince Carter. Would there be a Dukie to compare to Carter???? Haywood has not surprised me not doing that well, Forte, I thought would do a little better. He probably should have stayed at least one more year.

well semperfi, i'm not about to question duke's players success to those of uncs. There's no question that unc has more, better pros. BUT, my whole argument with unc fans is that duke recruited more team player's that were made to look good in their system. Whereas carolina fans called them sorry players. But this year, unc's beloved forte sucks. As well as jamison, who had a good year when everyone else on the team was hurt. I don't remember if you were around for most of the arguing. I just think it was funny that right before the old board went offline, blueblood was proclaiming that brendan haywood would be the rookie of the year. He's not done much except for a few good games. But, for every unc fan, there's 10 good excuses a day, so i wanted to see what was said about those stats.

    no excuses here

although i'm sure any response or discussion will be deemed an "excuse"

Most people on here last year said that Forte was not ready for the NBA. He's keeping the bench warm this year and the Celtics obviously don't need him as good as they are playing.

I also said that Battier would be a good pro. I still don't understand why he didn't go higher in the draft.

As for Haywood - every single person on this board ( except for me) said he would be a bust in the NBA - probably wouldn't play or would drift around. For a rookie that didn't play the first month I would say he has far exceeded those expectations and will likely get much better as he matures.

i don't know wossa, i think he may have plateau-ed. A lottery pick should be starting over jahidi white and popeye jones. And haywood didn't miss much of training camp, so he got the drills and wasn't just thrust into games. I'm willing to bet MJ would be loving to have battier right now. Mike could run point or let rip run point. Battier's got the smarts that mike is putting in those dumbasses heads right now.

I could care less about any of those players but you put Forte or Haywod on Memphis' team and they get the numbers Battier is getting.

nope, sorry bear, you're wrong. Lorenzen wright is light years ahead of what haywood is. As are j williams and paul gasol at forte's spot. Haywood would still be a back-up and forte would still be on the pine. What's sad is that forte is now the official injury list player. He's the player that is put on the injured list when a better player comes off of it.

Wasn't around for the arguing on the old board, I didn't go to the College BB section, mostly just FB. I just noticed the topic and thought you were talking smack, not that anybody wouldn't be able to do this year. My only want right now is to beat State on Sunday. Then I will be as happy as I can be considering the season.

Sorry wydd but you are reaching deep in the shit bucket for this one.

Are you saying that Jamison is not having a good season this year?

Last time I checked 19.4 pts and 6.6 rebounds was pretty damn good. He leads his team in scoring again and is 25th in the league. He's also ahead of Wonder Brand.

As for Haywood - He's averaging more minutes per White and that includes factoring in the time he missed. Considering how many rookies come in and never get on the court ( see Forte - Rodney White ) I would say that Jordan is pleasantly pleased with his trade for Haywood.

I also agree that Jordan should have drafted Battier ahead of Kwame Brown but Battier would be competing with Jordan for small forward minutes and would certainly not have the same numbers.

Nope, I said he'd be fine if he got with someone who could develop his enormous potential and convince him that he is in fact a basketball player and not a wild gorilla. I did say that Forte would get nowhere though; he's way too slow/short for his position in the NBA.
