If it weren't for the quest to rid the world of John Stevens, Fantasia might actually be gone. She was horrid last night.

I actually thought the Stepford Contestant - Diana - did the best last night. Her and Latoya.

Too bad I didn't get this warning before I tuned in last night. This was the first time I had actually watched this season, and, boy, what a shock. I've never heard such awful singing, especially the red-headed kid. The quality of talent has really diminished compared with the first two seasons of "Idol." I still can't figure out what qualifies Paula Abdul to judge anyone's singing talent. Ugh! :barf:

"John, you and Latin music go together like chocolate ice cream and an onion." --Simon Cowell

    Simon said it all.

Sportsgirl: LaToya is actually quite talented, as is Fantasia. She did have an off night, but I really think it was because of the genre, not her talent level.

    My rankings:

    LaToya
    Fantasia
    Diana
    George
    Jasmine

Jasmine has more potential than George, I think, but she's inconsistent.

I wonder if Fantasia will interrupt her performance next week to say that she "misses John"?

I was thinking that, too. What's with the "this one's for Jennifer" crap? It's not like she died or anything.

If you ask me George is the next one out. His singing style is limited and he reminds me of a black Stan Laurel, all timid. While George has slid Diane and Jasmine have taken off. Below LaToya and Fantasia mind you, So I look for George to be gone next week, then Jasmine, then Diane, then who knows between LaToya and Fantasia

Well another week is in the books and Fantasia and LaToya pull away once again. First question is who dresses these people? Diana is toting around a little extra tonnage and she wears satin? My wife told me only the thinnest of people need to wear satin as it makes you look fat. Diana is going to be a big girl, lose the satin. She is too damn perky for me and her voice isn't being showcase anymore. George came back with a genre of music he can do well at. He still looks like Raymond from Rainman. He is safe IMO this week. Poor ole Jasmine. She is cute as a button but she just doesn't have the pipes to contend with the dueling divas.
LaToya. This woman can sing anything. She reminds me of a cross between Anita Baker and Toni Braxton. She has been my favorite and nothing has swayed me yet.
Fantasia. Another solid performance. Kind of awkward to hear the judges say it but it's true. Fantasia and LaToya are setting the pace and just playing out the inevitable. Both will get record deals and do well.

I thought the competition was a lot tighter this week, behind LaToya. You're right, Paul -- that woman can sing anything. She's the real deal -- a complete package and a class act. She needs to win this thing.

As for the rest, I think they all had highs and lows. But really, all of them can sing. Most need a little polish, though, especially the young'uns.

Agree wholeheartedly on Diana's wardrobe. Jasmine's too. Who dressed her in jeans to sing big band? :saywhat:

I think we've gotten to the point where everyone left standing (behind LaToya) can sing, it's just a matter of who you like best. Here's my rankings for this week:

    LaToya
    Fantasia
    Diana
George (had a strong performance this week)
    Jasmine

The last three are nearly equal. All have strengths, all have weaknesses. If I had to guess, I'd say either Diana or Jasmine will probably be eliminated this week.
