American Idol or Whatever It's Called

Is anybody watching that? I've watched the last couple of weeks and can not believe that Nikki, no vibrato, monotone, tone deaf girl is still there! I also can't believe that Tamyra (?) chick got kicked off. This has got to be for dramatic effect.

Tamyra could sing anything thrown her way and knows how to perform. She's very pretty and has great presence. It's such a shame. I would have rathered Nikki, of course, or that guy Justin get the boot. He's got a good voice, but can only pull off certain types of songs.

Kelly will hopefully win it all. I was hoping it would come down to her and Tamyra, but damn! What are the people that vote thinking?

 

I am really surprised that I like this show, but it is one of the few quality shows on FOX.

I got misty eyed last night after Tamyra got booted off. I feel she is best of all the ladies. I'm sure we haven't heard the last from this girl. She's got the pipes, the look, and the attitude to make it in the music industry, and I hope she does make it.

People rag on Simon Cowell, but I think he is the life of the show. Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson are great also, but I tune in mostly to hear the hilarious rantings of Simon.

Just think, in two more weeks, it'll be over. In the end, I pick Justin to win it all. He looks like an American Idol.

 

Justin is a huge cheeseball. Tamyra and Kelly should have been the two finalists. Kelly has the best voice but Tamyra is the best overall performer. Nikki should have been gone.

I strongly feel the thing is rigged. Justin should have been gone too but if they lose him they lose the whole teenie bopper girl demographic.

Kelly is my favorite to win it all now.

 

Of course, Justin is going to win. Why do you think they call it "American Idol"?

 

You are correct sir. Basically, the producers of the show have the FINAL say about who wins no matter what the votes say. So people who try to rig it themsleves by calling in 10,000 times from one phone location are wasting their time too.

 

Then why oh why is that Nikki chick still there? She's terrible! Pardon my french, but she has to be blowing some guy or eating some chick out. It's not because she's talented.

I heard some talking heads say that there have been phone hackers that registered thousands of calls for one of the contestants - don't recall which one. Maybe it was for her.

Justin will fade away with all the other Star Search winners (except for LeAnn Rimes). But then again, perhaps he is what represents the whole idol thing.

I feel Kelly is a good performer and can sing anything. It would have been impossible for me to pick between her and Tamyra. I'm with Sportsgirl in that we will be hearing from Tamyra in the future.

 

Paula is a complete waste on that show. She tells them all how wonderful they are, no constructive feedback. Simon is alright, but can be brutal for no reason. I almost always agree with Randy's assessment of the performance. I wish I had his job.

 

:applause: I was hoping she'd get voted off last night.

 

Kelly and Tamyra have real talent. You can listen to them and know they will be stars...real stars, not just American Idol gimmicks. Both have unbelievable voices, and the looks to match. It was a travesty that Tamyra was booted off. No question the final two should have been her and Kelly.

Justin is a cocky, frizz-headed meatball. However he does have a good voice, but as Muff said, he can only sing certain types of songs. I see him as more the Broadway type. He is very demonstrative both facially and physically, and his voice suits show tunes.

Nikki is a Pink wannabe. She doesn't have the range or versitility to deserve to be here.

As for the judges, Randy is good. I think he was a little softer early on, but has since gotten tougher as the show has progressed. Overall he is usually fair.

Paula Abdul is a total waste of space. She offers nothing of value to the singers, and is so concerned with being the nice one, that she is actually being unfair by not giving needed constructive criticism. While everyone likes being told how great they are, these performers actually need to know what they need to do to improve. Her cornball sentimentality is sometimes hard to watch and listen to.

In my opinion, Simon is almost always right on with his criticism. He is blunt and doesn't pull any punches, but he is also the one who is giving them the best feedback. He's not giving them any false sense of greatness like Paula, instead giving honest criticism. Sure he is harsh, but if these singers truely want to make it, they are going to have to deal with much worse than what Simon is saying. In fact, I saw an interview with Randy where he basically said the same thing. These performers all put themselves out there when they signed up for this, so they need to learn to take the good with the bad when they go on a public stage.

 

Anyone know when The Pulse interview with Simon is? I have to watch that.
