I was in Conway on the way to the beach two weeks ago, and as I cut off on hwy 544 to head towards Surfside, I saw Coastal Carolina's new football facitlity. I would much rather us start something in this capacity than have nothing at all. At least the students would have a campus life on the fall weekends. It also is great for alum. If Coastal has managed to start football, it is proof that Judy and the other naysayers are flat out against it. I know we can raise more money to start football than Coast fucking Carolina. embarrassing. this what happens when you don't make excuses. pisses me off. :mad

I was down there in April for a golf tournament and met these 4 monsters in Arbys. These boys were big. They had muscles where I don't even have body and I inquired as to what pro team they played for. Of course being big and dumb they said "We gonna play for Coastal." Kinda surprised me and I really wanted to say something smart ass but I also wanted to be able to eat my 5 for 5 Arby roast beef sandwiches with my teeth in my mouth so I passed.;)

I'm firmly on the other side that we pay first for what we've got now. However, Coastal Carolina is getting a good bit of state money to start this program up. They also are doing something I sort of wish we'd do: require a donation to their athletic foundation/club in order to purchase season tickets. In their case it's a $100 minimum with season football tickets $75 and $100 for 5 home games.

I wonder how many season ticket holders we have who are not 49er Club members?

I never really thought about it, but I don't see why it isn't possible to ad on to the Belk track for a football stadium. There is nothing but a creek on the other side of the track. I would rather see an upfitted on campus Belk track than playing at Ericcson or Memorial.

It would be sweet to get on that Universtiy Loop one day and stand in one place to see Halton, Belk track/football stadium, and a new baseball stadium in it's existing place.

I agree. That stadium's cool already. Just expand it, and it would be great. We already have the parking there for basketball, so it would be close. They would have to add another statue (one of a football player).

I was really jealous of that stadium. As a member of the track team in '92, we had NO facilities on campus, and we actually did a lot of fundraising ourselves to get a track stadium built. Maybe one day you can be jealous of a new baseball stadium Metro!

metro, I've often thought the same thing. Just expand the facility that already exists. The new entrance they are building off Tryon could make access to this stadium even easier.
