Do we know that Moore wouldn't have outperformed Vinny?

    No.

FWIW I was on the "sign Vinny" bandwagon early. It was a good decision. Start him yesterday? Well, we won. That makes it a good decision. I would still like to have seen how Moore handled more than three consecutive plays, since he's been working on this offense for weeks.

Ummmmmm...if we had lost, would all the "experts" who wanted to start Moore have been proven wrong?

    Nope.

It just would have been another "L", and everybody would have been hatin' on Vinny.

Isn't it fun to be an armchair coach on Monday morning? :clapclap:

I don't claim to be a genius or anything but as much abuse as I have taken lately I felt like thumping my chest a little about getting this one right. No disrespect meant to those who wanted Moore to play.

I think the biggest advantage VT had was he has two decades of seeing NFL defenses, compared to a few weeks or plays for Moore. No telling what Az would have tried to do to Moore, or if it would have worked, but they are a good defense and I'd have expected a couple of balls thrown to the wrong color jersey had Moore played. We didn't get that with Vinnie.

Main thing is he helped get us the win, and get to the bye 4-2. Now we have two weeks to get guys healthy and things adjusted.

i'll take nothing away from vinny for coming off the couch and playing, but c'mon guys...he sucks

the team played about as hard as it could and we still bearly won with all those turnovers...up until close to the end, it was anybody's game plus our ST's gave us the best starting field position we had all season

You know as well as I do that most playbooks share 80-90% of their plays. What an offense looks like on Sunday depends not on what's written down, but rather the philosophies and frequencies of the coaching staff, as well as the abilities of the players themselves. If you took games from '97 without jersey color or names on the back, you wouldn't get confused about who you were watching. Similarly, while you have claimed that the playbook has changed drastically due to a New England influence, it still looks like the same old Henning offense on the field.

That is a good point, and you really can't underestimate the importance of experience, but at the same time you're not going to risk many interceptions when 29 of your 33 throws are just dump offs.

Well I guess I can not prove that Moore would not have done as well as Vinny but I consider it highly unlikely and bottom line we won the game with Vinny starting.

You were correct that Vinny would be adequate, but can you think of any throws from the game that you considered special or in any way difficult? As strat noted, the best thing he did was not screw up, which isn't especially hard when you don't even try to stretch the defense. Two first downs in a half really isn't something to crow about.
