    1b Lou Gehrig
    2b Roberto Alomar
    3b Mike Schmidt
    ss Mark Belanger
    C Johnny Bench
    of Roberto Clemente
    of Willie Mays
    of Barry bonds

    rhp Roger Clemens
    lhp Randy Johnson
    closer Lee SMith

I like defense, hence Belanger. All those bats won't make him that much of a liability. Everybody in my lineup has won multiple Gold Gloves, except maybe Gehrig, I don't know if they gave those out back then. But a Gold Glove at First Base isn't that big of a deal.

I have to give it to Clemens and Johnson becuase they have done this in the most lively era of hitting. Even guys like Tom Seaver or JIm Palmer, they pitched in the sixties and seventies, when Graig Nettles lead the league in homers with 32.

I also like more modern players because until Jackie Robinson, MLB only had American born white guys, even Europeans were not allowed for a long time. Sorry, Babe Ruth. I feel the game is even more global now with Asians joining Latinos and Blacks in the mix.

    VERY, VERY interesting lists...........

    2 comments off the top.

    Alomar & Clemente.

    1) Wouldn't give ya 2 cents for Robbie.

    2) Clemente (Along with Joe D) would be the next 2 players to put on my team. The former Pirates RF was the last OF that I crossed off my list.

If the SS is only for defense..........then I want Omar Vizquel.

    Belanger - 18 years .977 fld %
    Vizquel - 14 years .984 fld %

Sorry I also disagree on Big Mac......take away the 70HR season and I'm not impressed with his stats (or his glove).

Good call on Rickey..........I'd be willing to defend that choice, even though I didn't make it.
