Its either UNC, UConn, or UCLA. Heard some list that say its only UNC and UConn, and other say its only UNC and UCLA. So its a good thing to be the common denominator in this. Not sure it'll pan out. Kentucky folk are trying to push the point saying Stepheson to UNC so they have a better chance to secure Brandon Wright. I think UCLA is outta it, but his mama wants him there. So that will go in their favor. UConn is pushing the whole "You can be the next Okafor" angle.

Alex Stepheson, a PF/C from North Hollywood (Calif.) Harvard-Westlake, has decided to attend North Carolina, according to sources close to the situation. He will announce his decision this afternoon at a press conference at the school.

Stay tuned to Inside Carolina for full coverage of the press conference.
The 6-9, 220-pound post player chose the Tar Heels over UConn and UCLA. Georgia Tech, Washington, Arizona and Wake Forest were also considered earlier in the process.

Stepheson averaged 16.9 points, 14.2 rebounds a 3.9 blocks -- including four games in which he had 20 or more rebounds -- his junior season for Harvard-Westlake.

He is ranked the No. 13 center in the class and No. 58 overall by Scout.com

Care to put a bet on whether he will do better in college than Shav?

Sure. $20 to TBR. Stephenson won't have better career stats in 3 years.

Stupid bet actually. Stepheson will be a backup. Shav started and was a turd. The extra minutes alone will give Shav better numbers. Stepheson WILL be a better player though. Stepheson is a young big body that defends well and rebounds. He's a project, but scouts say he has very good upside. Sly might call him aturd, but UCONN sure wanted him. Plus he's friends with Thadeuss Young. One more attraction for Young to come to UNC.
