fwifw, I think PI missed Plu's point completely (or did it intentionally so he could insult/abuse her). I don't see where she made any comparison between Morisette and King/Mitchell/Nicks/Joplin. Those would be huge apples/oranges comparisons. The latter are timeless classics, whose music was embraced by men and women alike. Morisette's appeal is by and large limited to women (hence Plu's clearly stated "chick lyricist" characterization.) at any rate, and at the risk of being labeled a fag, Sara McLachlan > morisette in that respect. So, too, is Merchant, but that could be my Jamestown bias.

 

Leave it to Pi to start and argument over someone's opinion of music. Putting someone down for their taste in music is like putting someone down for their favorite color.

Yeah yeah yeah, the "ironic" song is a fuckup. I like the sound of it, but I can't get past the perpetuation of a totally wrong definition of irony. But You Oughta Know is the best angry you-cheatin'-************ song ever. Even if she never did another worthwhile song, I'd always remember & give her kudos for that one
