Playoffs suck. How many teams' players come away satisfied after the NCAA tournament? One. How many teams' fans are happy after the NCAA tournament? One. How many times do the best teams actually win a playoff/tournament? More rarely than anyone cares to admit. Didn't anyone notice the fact that Illinois-UNC was the first #1 vs. #2 match-up in 60 years?

There's nothing wrong with split national championships. Do you hear anyone these days even suggesting that USC's '03 title isn't "real"? Or someone saying that about LSU's half of the title? I don't. I hear people talk about both teams being champions, which is a good thing. The bowl system is a good one, and tradition actually is worth something (I'd prefer it if we still had the old conference match-ups).

They are saying it is real because they would be the first team in history with "three" national championships in a row, so they're trying to glorify it, and leaving out LSU altogether. Notice they don't even mention it was a split title
