the potential for sin through our free will is different than the creation of sin by God.

I disagree with this strongly. Sin requires knowledge that what you are doing is wrong.

I'm saying that Adam knew what he was doing was wrong when he ate. He did it of his own free will. He sinned and sin entered through him.

Yes, I know Eve ate first, but she was deceived, Adam rebelled.

Then I don't understand your post that I responded to. Eve was also told eating the apple was wrong. She knew it was wrong and therefor it was a sin. Had she not known, it would not have been a sin. However, the possibility was always there for her to eat the apple so the possibility for sin always existed. It just didn't become reality until man was aware their actions were wrong.

Indeed. God didn't "create sin", only the potential for it. In order to "create" sin, He would have to have forced someone to disobey Him.

I agree! Maybe I misunderstood Sly in the 6th post where he said that he believed that sin had always been here. Going back and reading it again he says sin had always been here "in a way".

Maybe we are saying the same thing, but for the record I believe the bible teaches that there was a garden of Eden, and there was no sin in the world before Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit.

"But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go" - according to Exodus.

In Hebrew, the verb tense can be causitive(sp?) or permissive. We don't have this in English. The word "create" in the Permissive tense could mean that God "allowed" it.
