I don't think you're being selective either. I choose to believe that it is exactly right and that there are pieces to the puzzle that I haven't found yet.

And therein lies the rub for the non-believer. It still looks like you/we are being selective. I just don't fight their thinking.

You should read The Case for Christ. It is way too one sided for what it advertises itself as being but there is some good information in there with regards to that.

    OK.

Here's the thing: when I professed my faith, I was 10 or so, and didn't really 'grow' into being a Christian under later on. But even then I wasn't concerned exactly about the Resurrection. But, I must confess, after reading viewpoints expressed on TBR, and because of my personality, I've struggled with it.

Why wouldn't it be accurate? Do you think that it would be hard for us now to remember something so detail that they couldn't possibly remember it back then? You should consider their society back then had a lot to do with memory. When Jesus walked the earth the disciples were carrying paper and pen around jotting down everything He said. It was based on memory.

Moses was not around at the creation, and neither was anyone else. So what is there to remember? And how do two people populate the earth without everyone having Downs Syndrome?

Like I said, it's the lessons that are important to me.

I know Moses was not around at the beginning but the lineage and live of Adam would have been passed down to him. Just like stories are passed from one generation to the next.

So I'm assuming you believe in evolution? I would have more faith in the world being populated by two humans as opposed to evolving from some primodial soup. From what I've learned, God did not make it a sin for what we refer to now as incest until later. The world had to be populated somehow. But regardless, both theories rely on faith.

I have a hard time accepting that God would allow the bible to exist in its current form and to survive all of those thousands of years between Moses and today and not at the same time make sure it is accurate. I think God worked through men to write the bible and that all of it was in effect written by God. I think you have to have a certain amount of knowledge to "rightly divide it" so as to understand what it really means. I can not however accept the idea that Adam and Eve never existed and that many stories in the bible were screwed up by Moses. I can not see God preserving a book that is supposed to be his word to mankind and letting it be full of errors.

Yes, I believe in evolution, just as I believe Moses made all that stuff up when he wrote Genesis. How he was inspired to write that is up for debate. He very well may have been compelled by God to write it thus.

What Genesis doesn't say for example, is where Cain's and Abel's wives came from. I'm saying this based on memory. Anyone wanting to refute can go ahead.
