until they put a fullback in the backfield they can forget having a consistent running game.

Most if not all the items on your list can be summed up in one word: Coaching

I am officially on record now as saying I don't like Chuck Amato.

    I share your ulcer pain.

Love the team though, Go State!

If Amato were a lifelong veteran HEAD coach, I'd probably be worried about him. I'm willing to let him grow out of some of this stuff that he's not had to worry about in the past as a head coach.

yeah, but this is his sixth year, and he was a Coordinator at a huge football program for what, 12 or 14 years? You gotta think he'd seen a lot during those years. I may be imagining things but it seems to me the lack of disclipine/stupid penalities have been increasing during his time as HC.

On the positive side, IMHO our offense is much improved from last year (Jay Davis) and our defense is still tops. I love watching Mario and Manny.

I don't think he was ever a coordinator, but he has been a coach for a long time. My impression is that the head coach is responsible for so much more, that being a position coach may not be all you need when dealing with a team-wide problem. He's learning; that's fine with me. Hell, I think he can do as well as Beamer if he stays put and gets some consistency in his staff.

Amato sucks, Rivers made him look better than he was.
