i never said that what doh did in the acc tourney against duke wasn't the smartest move for doh, but it wasn't outcoaching. Of course, this is coming from the same people that thought 4 corners was the smartest thing ever and not the possible undoing of basketball. Playing keep-away is not outcoaching. But, if you've got the ball handlers to do it, then it'll work. Doh had a good idea, but carolina didn't hit their shots and it was pretty apparent that when they were down by double digits early, that the game wasn't gonna be won with that strategy. There was no sense of urgency in that game at the end, so, like i said, doh was playing not to get blown out.

I don't think doh is a terrible coach, but i don't think he's done anything to warrant being called anything other than mediocre yet. He can give that coach of the year award to joe forte, because that's the ONLY reason he got it. I love how you guys didn't complain that forte was one of gut's kids. I'm just glad that you guys have a nice excuse for the seaon, much like you always do. At least this year it's legit compared to most of the excuses we get the pleasure of hearing.

  2. :D at Sly...

I continue to be amazed at Heel fans...the record shows UNC at 8-3, out of the top 20. Duke is ranked #1, 7-0. BUT, that's only because Duke plays bad teams...

Carolina lost soundly to Illinois (good team, no question), Kentucky (solid) and...that basketball powerhouse...Iona. BUT, only because they didn't have Michael Jordan, James Worthy & Sam Perkins...er, something like that.

I could never be a Carolina fan.

I'm not good enough at creating excuses...
    :p

Now....now PR, the only reason you don't have to worry about creating excuses this year is because coach rat face already did that for you with his luck in scheduling this year. Now I know he didn't know these teams were going to be so bad or maybe he did.

Either way the tougher schedule that UNC has played thus far will help them far more than dook will. Come ACC tourney time and NCAA time when dook still hasn't really played any of the top tier teams, UNC included and they get waxed and sent home packing, then they will be just like UNC was Dohs first year.

Congrats to all the dookies, the cycle is that dook is turning into what UNC was 2 years ago. :D

Oh I just love this time of year. The almighty dookies come out in groves now that dook has won some games or either the ones that were here start talking more because of it.

nah, we've just been having to weed through all the "carolina is winning at the 15 minute mark in the first half." Followed by the "carolina is at the free throw line" threads. Not to be outdone by the "carolina wins threads (at least 6 per win)."

The best days to catch us duke fans posting is the days after carolina loses because it seems that you guys somehow lose internet connections for those few days after the loss.

A grove is a group of trees. i think you meant droves.

  7. Special thanks to my boy Sly for correcting Fever...
    :D
Fever, if K can lead Duke to a Sweet 16 with this group, he deserves coach of the year. Look at the "experience" on the team - Horvath, Casey Sanders...

Dahntay Jones scares the tar out of me, as does Dockery, every time they touch the ball. Daniel Ewing is thinking too much when shooting, and Shav seems to have my hands.

I'm amazed Duke is #1 currently. But they've done everything necessary to be there - win the games. No excuses, just win. What's your definition of "top teams"? Bama? They lost to Utah. Who else? I think playing the ACC season will be a good barometer of how well the Devils will do in the tournament. It doesn't take a Chapel Hill grad to determine Duke's weaknesses, or to extrapolate those into tourney time.

I'm enjoying watching this YOUNG team come together, and beating the baby lambs will be even more fun this year than last.:D

Oh well, back to the grindstone (which is in the groves)...
    :p

The best thing for Duke right now would be to get beat. And I mean stomped. They need to learn what losing feels like.....might give them a hunger they haven't shown me yet.

Clemson scares me. It could happen there. Won't bother me if it does.

  9. Right on the money, Sly.

I can handle anyone in the ACC beating Duke - with the exception of Carolina. If that happens, well, it just won't be pretty.

The Devils don't have the "killer instinct" yet either - another frustration for me. They looked "concerned" - not scared or frightened.

But when we lose, per all the lite blue fans, it will be to someone they would have beaten. 'Cause we play crappy competition!

methinks you are very prophetic sly. This could every easily happen.

the ACC is going to be upset city this season. Pobably going to be a bunch of 9-7 teams by year end.
