About that agreement with the Big East---

We're getting ready to find out.

    I like this idea.

With the Big XII restructuring, somewhat...I don't see any schools from that area joining the ACC. Also, if an idea like this would fly, I don't see NC State being separated from the other Big Four schools. I still see UConn and Rutgers being more in line to defect. If so, here's how I see it breaking down:

    Atlantic Division - North
    Boston College
    Connecticut
    Rutgers
    Syracuse

    Atlantic Division - South
    Maryland
    Pittsburgh
    Virginia
    Virginia Tech

    Coastal Division - North
    Duke
    North Carolina
    N.C. State
    Wake Forest

    Coastal Division - South
    Clemson
    Florida State
    Georgia Tech
    Miami, FL

You'd have to split these teams into two brackets..these are all bad football schools...this would be the cupcake bracket.

The North Atlantic looks pretty soft too...

I'm looking at this configuration as an all sports thing, not just football. The South Coastal would be bad in basketball, the South Atlantic would be bad in baseball, etc..

It's not perfect, its just a geographical pairing of schools to emphasize the rivalries and have some closeness for all competitions.

If the ACC had any interest in UConn & Rutgers then it would have already happened. UConn could still get in if someone like Notre Dame wanted in and the conference needed a 16th team, but I think they'll stick at 14 for the next few years at least.

It looks as if ECU is finally now being looked at by the Big East, & this might be their one & only chance for awhile to get in. I think they could compete w/ what schools are still there, but they would need to step it up some. The program seems to be in decline right now. On the plus side, the fans are still showing up for the games and filling up the ole home stadium. I wonder how much time Holland is going to give McNeil to turn things around?

ECU being looked at by the Big East is a sign the Big East is on the verge of collapse. They couldn't get the teams they wanted to stay a float. I know they wanted Memphis to replace the basketball power lost between Pitt and Cuse. ECU is a step down from that.

The ACC should go ahead & extend UConn an invitation & put the Big East out of it's misery. Can you imagine the kind of TV contract the ACC can negotiate for basketball w/ the Huskies brought into the mix?

Basketball? This is about football. Evidently, Missouri can get $12 Million more each season for switching to the SEC. Not sure UCONN can get those kinds of dollars with the ACC but you get the point.
