Academics are why WVU is getting snubbed, why Notre Dame is looking at the ACC, and part of the reason why the ACC accepted Syracuse & Pitt.

The ACC could actually end up getting less money per school after adding Syracuse & Pitt than they had without them. Moving to 14 was more about building up the strength of the conference than trying to make money. The ACC was worried about having teams get picked off, so instead they made a pro-active move to improve the conference.

Really, really don't think the ACC has any interest at all in Rutgers. Rutgers people are floating that rumor because they wish like hell that the ACC did. And UConn only gets in if the ACC has a viable 16th looking to get in, like Texas or Notre Dame, which I don't think is at all likely now that the Big XII is trying to stay together.

TV market wise it makes no sense to take West Vagina but I really think they would add to the league. Football for sure would benefit and hoops is competitive. I know the ACC frowns on them because of accademics but let's be honest, none of this has anything to do with accademics.

Or could it be WVU offered no TV market that Pitt didn't offer and evidently Syracuse offers the NYC market. Notre Dame is just Notre Dame and has to figure out if it can remain independent. The ACC provides the fit geographically and the fact the acadmics match is secondary.

Thank you. Academics used as a cop out from the ACC with regard to WVU. Pitt offers the better TV market. It would be shame to kill the Pitt/WVU game each year though.

Notre Dame needs to pick a conference for all sports. They're no longer a football powerhouse.

Wrong on the academics part. It is a major concern to some conferences.

There is so much bullshit floating around, it is amazing. Journalism in this country is pathetic.

That doesn't matter due to the NBC contract.

Pitt & Syracuse don't add much in terms of a media market. Syracuse is 200+ miles from NYC. Meanwhile WVU's media market is not substantially different from Missouri's. They clearly got snubbed because they have horrible academics.

The ACC provides a better fit geographically for Notre Dame than the Big 10? Good lord. Please just stop arguing about this.

You guys need to stop posting this when it's clearly wrong. Academics aren't the reason why these changes are being made, but it's absolutely a major consideration when deciding which universities to associate with.
