Shannon has been head coach long enough to know how the last 2 minutes should be handled. That was some of the worst clock management I've seen.
I was surprised how easily FSU whipped Wisconsin's ass though.

2009 Depth Chart / Recruiting Board

Number of scholarships “currently” occupied for 2009, including all current verbal commitments: 96 (or 11 "over" the NCAA maximum). Notably, however, between now and August of 2009 there will be certain attrition due to nfl departures, medical hardships, qualification/discipline issues and/or transfers from 3rd/4th year players who have not yet cracked the 2-deep that will cause more scholarships to be available.

    QUARTERBACKS:
    13 TJ Yates (6-4, 215, Jr-4) (38; 3 star)
    - Bryn Renner (6-3, 195, Fr-1) (11; 4 star)
    7 Mike Paulus (6-3, 215, So-3) (11; 4 star) (transfer?)
    14 Braden Hanson (6-5, 195, Fr-2) (34; 3 star)

Need: One per year is the goal, but a second qb is being sought in 09 to the extent he is an athletic QB who could project to another position as well as QB

Results: Renner was exactly what the staff was looking for at QB and Tate, if he doesn't sign an MLB contract this spring, and Blue, assuming he qualifies, are exactly the type of QB/ATHs the staff was seeking.

    #11 QB Bryn Renner (6-3, 195, VA)
Offers: VAT, UNC, MICHST, MD, WF, WVU
    Primary Recruiter: John Shoop
Stats: Accounted for 3,350 yards and 42 tds on offense as a junior; Accounted for 3,700 yards and 47 tds on offense as a senior.
Outlook: Also a star on the diamond and the hardcourt; as of early march seemed as if it would be hard to pull away from VAT given the fact that his dad played for them (and the Green Bay Packers) that his mom was a cheerleader for them and his grandparents live in Blacksburg and are long-time season ticket holders for football; Visited UNC unofficially in early March and came away very impressed; visited UNC unofficially on late March for a Spring practice and committed to UNC; attended UNC summer camp in mid June; impressed in late July at the elite 11 national QB camp; MVP of hawaii/mainland all-star game after throwing 2 td passes
    Projection: UNC

    QUARTERBACK/ATHLETES:

    - Donovan Tate (6-2, 205, Fr-1) (16; 4 star)
    - A.J. Blue (6-1, 205, Fr-1) (PS; 4 star)

    #16 S Donavan Tate (6-2, 205, GA)
Offers: SoCAL, UNC, MICH, ASU, FL, GA, MIA, TEX
    Primary Recruiter: Steve Hagen
Official Visits: SoCal (10/10), UNC (12/12)
Outlook: Sure fire high 1st round draft pick in baseball makes his likelihood of playing college football seem remote; Lists USC, MICH and UNC as his top three as of mid-October and is scheduled to take an official visit to UNC on 11/22; As of mid-October, says that UNC is recruiting him as a QB and that his final two visits will be to Alabama and one of Georgia (where his dad played) or LSU; had to reschedule UNC official visit due to injury; As of late November, says he is down to three schools - Southern Cal, UNC and AL; As of early December, says he will not take any more official visits, will field in-homes from his five finalists - Alabama, Michigan, North Carolina, USC, and Georgia - in the next two weeks and will decide shortly thereafter; Committed to UNC on 12/2; Selected to play in Army All-American game; Official visit to UNC on 12/12
Projection: MLB, but sign with UNC in February

    4* A.J. Blue (6-1, 205, NC/Hargrave)
    Offers: UNC
    Primary Recruiter: John Lovett
Stats: accounted for over 4,000 yards and 40 tds as a high school senior
Outlook: signed with UNC in 08 but failed to qualify and will spend at least a semester at Hargrave this fall; played qb in hs, but likely projects to either tb or olb as a college player; As of early December, seems like he will need to spend the spring semester at Hargrave
    Projection: UNC

    RUNNING BACKS

    Tailbacks:
    20 Shaun Draughn (6-1, 205, Jr-4) (24; 3 star)
    32 Ryan Houston (6-2, 245, Jr-3) (20; 4 star)
    5 Jamal Womble (5-10, 220, Fr-2) (13; 4 star)

    Fullbacks:
    4 Bobby Rome (5-11, 245, Sr-5) (UR; 2 star) (5th year?)
    6 Anthony Elzy (5-10, 205, Jr-4) (62; 3 star)
    45 Devon Ramsay (6-2, 245, So-3) (6 FB; 3 star)

Needs: Given that, prior to the start of 2008's season, only Little had produced on the field (in only 2 games in 07) and that he is best suited for WR, that Draughn had just moved here from safety and had yet to fully establish himself and that Ramsay appeared better suited for FB than TB, UNC was seeking two to three TB/athletes for 09, with the idea that one or two will stick at TB and the other one or two will move to another spot down the line. No need for a fullback for 2009.

Results: AJ Blue (and RB/SS prospect Hunter Furr) fit the "athletic" RB mold the staff was seeking perfectly, and true tailback JR Rhodes rounds out this position nicely.

    #88 RB Jerrell Rhodes (5-9, 180, NC)
    Offers: UNC, ILL
    Primary Recruiter: Kenny Browning
Outlook: Impressed UNC coaches at summer camp and was offered on the spot; reportedly reminds Butch Davis of former Miami Hurricane star rb frank gore; UNC leads post-camp, but reportedly wants to visit Illinois before pulling the trigger; Committed to UNC on september 30th; nc-sc shrine bowl selection
    Projection: UNC

    - Jhay Boyd (6-3, 180, Fr-1) (7; 4 star)
    82 Todd Harrelson (6-1, 190, Fr-2) (77; 3 star)

    Split Ends:
    83 Dwight Jones (6-4, 225, So-2) (16; 4 star)
    - Joshua Adams (6-4, 205, Fr-1) (42; 3 star)
    85 Rashad Mason (6-5, 225, So-3) (14; 4 star)

Needs: With Tate and Arnold graduating, Nicks a probable to depart early to NFL, and Parker-Boyd not proven as of yet, UNC headed into the 09 recruiting campaign needing at least two Flankers. With Foster graduating, Thornton a probable early graduate, and Mason unproven thus far, UNC headed into the 09 recruiting campagain needing at least one Split End.

Results: Boyd and Davis satisfy the team's depth concerns at flanker, though Davis appears to be 09 redshirt candidate due to injury. Joshua Adams is exactly the type and caliber of athlete the staff was looking for at split end.

    #7 WR Jhay Boyd (6-3, 180, NC)
Offers; AL, CLEM, WF, MD, UNC, NCSU, MICHST, MISST, FL, FSU, ILL, MICH, MISSOURI, OSU, ORE, PSU, OKL

    Primary Recruiter: Tommy Thigpen
    Stats: 47 catches, 1151 yards and 11 tds as a junior;
Outlook: As of early February, has offers from 6 BCS schools; As of early March, Boyd did not mention UNC among the schools that have offered, but Butch Davis is reportedly holding off to offer "in person"; As of Mid-May, UNC came through with an offer, as did FL, FSU, ILL, MICH, MISSO, OSU, ORE and PSU; as of early june, narrowed his list to 15 schools, including unc; attended unc summer camp in late june; came out of camp with unc as his leader or at a minimun as co-leader with clemson; As of late July, says Clemson and Florida are his top two and also mentions UNC among his favorites; As of mid-August, AUB, CLEM, FL and UNC make up his top 4; As of early September, names CLEM and FL as his top 2 schools; As of mid-September, indicates that he plans on making official visits to ILL, ORE, MISSOURI and FL and either CLEM or UNC as his 5th; made an unofficial visit to Chapel Hill for the VAT game; loved his unofficial to UNC and said he was surprised by the large number of pro scouts and top recruits on hand, and listed a top five of AUB, CLEM, FL, MISSOURI and UNC; As of late-September, was offered by OKL and immediately made an official visit there; As of early October, has scheduled all five official visits - OK, NCSU, ILL, FL and MISSO - and also is strongly considering CLEM and UNC, each of whom he has visited on multiple occassions; As of late October, FL tried to push Boyd's official visit back to late Dec. and Boyd is set to decide on 11/6, so FL appeared to be slow-playing him and was eliminated; Committed to UNC on 11/6; As of mid-December, Clemson is stil pursuing agressively; nc-sc shrine bowl selection
    Projection: UNC

    #42 WR Joshua Adams (6-4, 205, MA/CT prep academy)

    SLOTBACK/KR/PR:

Needs: UNC would despartely like to find the heir apparent to Brandon Tate in the form a WR/KR/PR/reverse specialist.

Results: Josh McKie and Erik Highsmith are likely slated for the Slotback role, though both appear to be 09 redshirt candidates - McKie due to position switch and Highsmith due to newness to football. Even after their commitments, UNC still pursuing several slot/return types.

    #3 RB Tavon Austin (5-7, 160, MD)
Offers: MICH, PSU, UNC, NCSU, MD, VA, VAT, RUT, WVU
    Primary Recruiter: Tommy Thigpen
Official Visits: WVU 11/26, MD 12/12, UNC 1/9, MICH 1/16
Outlook: Accounted for 2,888 yards and 39 tds as a junior; As of late October, down to UNC and WVU as his final two - UNC likes Austin as the heir apparent to Brandon Tate at Slot WR, KR and PR; Although open to a move to WR, Austin prefers TB and that is where WVU is recruiting him; visited UNC unofficially for the GAT game in early November; As of mid-December, set to visit MD on 12/12, UNC on 1/9 and Michigan on 1/16
    Projection: WVU

    TIGHT ENDS:

    H-backs:
    17 Zach Pianalto (6-4, 250, Jr-3) (21; 4 star)
    33 Christian Wilson (6-3, 240, So-2) (7: 4 star)

    Tight Ends:
    - Prizell Brown (6-4, 260, Jr-3) (UR, 2 star)
    49 Ryan Taylor (6-3, 240, Sr-4) (46; 3 star)
    86 Randy White (6-5, 240, Fr-2) (UR; 2 star)

Needs: Pianalto and Wilson are young and talented, but Butch loves the HBack so he likely wouldn't hesitate to add an elite H-back as a luxury/depth signing; Quinn graduates and Jacobs was moved to DE so UNC will be seeking to add another Tight End.

Result: Prizell Brown satisfies the need at TE; Bush/Charles would address the H-back position.

    #4 TE Orson Charles (6-3, 215, FL)
Offers: AL, FL, FSU, GA, ILL, LSU, MIA, ND, UNC, SC, USF
    Primary Recruiter: Steve Hagen

    65 Cameron Holland (6-2, 300, So-3) (78; 2 star)

Needs: Reynolds graduates and no OTs were signed in 08, making at least two a need for 09. Darity graduates and only one interior offensive lineman was signed in 08, making one or two a need for 09.
