ACC-Big East Heating Up

ncaa realignment has happened many times in the past -- always when the time is right. it seems as if the disparity between the larger schools and the smaller ones is hitting an apex.

it's not wrong, it's just the way it is.

i've advocated for years breaking the 120 d-1a football teams into three groups of 40 teams -- not based on conference, but on on-the-field records.

schools wiht poor records would all of the sudden have a chance to be competitive and post winning records. they would then be able to boost attendance by fielding winning programs and playing competitive football.

playoffs would be mandatory.

schools that are at the bottom of one 40-team division would swap places with the top teams from the next-lower division once every three seasons. gives the lower teams something to shoot for.

How’s this for an explanation. Why would the Niners ever start a team if we know we won’t ever be able to play for the championship?

 

It would still be better than watching the leaves turn brown in the Fall.

 

An interesting idea, which I happen to like. I’d go with two divisions of 60 instead.

 

Not to be tooting the Tarheel trumpet but Duke wasn't alone in their fight against the expansion. He just seems to find a microphone first.
