Crap, I hate to say it but I’m going to agree (in part) with Collin. IN A FOOTBALL CONTEXT, talent has been understood to mean a combination of two things: physical ability and instinct. I do however believe that you can still be talented even if they don’t have equal amounts of both (Brooks is great physically but is a little short on instincts). Peppers came into the NFL as a very talented player. Everyone said, “…when he learns the game he’s really going to be dangerous.” Talent isn’t about knowing how to read and react but rather having the ability to “get it” instinctively and having the physical attributes to master techniques through practice. Instinct for the game makes learning the skills to be a superstar easier but doesn’t necessarily guarantee success; you still have to practice and be coached up to reach that potential.

In Brooks case I agree he is talented but I wouldn’t go so far as “very talented.” The fact that so many sports writers caveat their praise of Brooks with “very talented but…” leads me to believe they probably where being kind on "talent" to in the next sentence pick on his skill, decision making, leadership, whatever. I cannot in good faith put Aaron Brooks in the same breath reserved for the very best talent in the game. I know, I know; it is subjective and sports writers that have to be nice to get interviews and increase readership might disagree. But honestly, I think his instincts for the game and “getting it” abilities fall a bit short. Just my opinion.

Summary: IMO, Collin is right that talent IN FOOTBALL CONTEXT is mostly about physical ability and instincts for the game. IMO, Brooks is talented but not "very talented." IMO Collin is still an asshole but an often correct one.

For now, their primary sights are set on Bouman, who passed for 348 yards and four touchdowns and compiled a passer rating of 131.5 in his first career start with the Minnesota Vikings in 2001. His career passer rating entering 2005 was 98.6. That's body temperature, but it's sure to send a chill through anyone expecting a dropoff because he's been a career backup quarterback.

Hey fuckstick, maybe if you read posts you'd realize I don't have a beef with you. You asked for a columnist with a less than stellar review of Brooks. I gave you one. I'm sorry he didn't quote you word for word. I'd think that if Brooks was 'very talented' he would have 'won a big game' here or there. Don't cry cause you got served. Don't be such a little bitch and you won't have the whole board against you.

edit--- are you saying Brooks is very talented but a bad QB? What position do you propose he would be best served using his talent? God you are fucking dense, don't be such a prick Collin. You got fucking owned, go home now.

He's mobile and has a great arm. That makes him talented.
