I do not believe there is any 'spark' of conscionsness which lives on after the physical body death.

Another train of thought that might lead to reincarnation is the knowledge that energy, in any form, cannot be destroyed or cease to exist. It simply disburses and transitions to another form. Although we don't fully understand what is commonly called the "life-force," science knows that the brain and nervous system operate by a form of electricity.

Some people figure that when the body loses the life force, the life force has to go somewhere. And some of these people, through reflection, revelation, or whatever means, came to the idea of reincarnation.

For a phase, I briefly believed in reincarnation. This was when I was studying Rosicrucian philosophy and Western mysticism. Now, I see that was just another form of putting faith in an idea because I read it in a book and the idea appealed to me. The truth is there's really no way to prove it or disprove it, as is the case with so many theological and metaphysical ideas.

if you were hindu or believed in reincarnation, you would take the approach of improvement versus the "why me?" approach. at least thats what hinduism preaches.

no offense taken. Groundhog Day would be repeating your life to make it perfect. I see it that we are born in different places on the universl timeline. my thoughts on reincarnation are similar to the structure of hindu belief except I dont feel that karma has any bearing on where or what you come back as. I think it is pretty random. other than as stated earlier the attributes which your "soul" possess. to simplify, if my "soul" has many of the attributes to mke me a good clutch leader and there will be an apocalyptic change in the next 20 years then I will be reborn in a position to help humanity get through this struggle or to take humanity down a path that is wrong but in then end will lead toward the end times.

Im not sure if I belive in all this...but if reincarnation is the way it goes down...I want to come back as one of my cats.

Tough subject. Wasnt satan in the form of a snake when he tempted Eve to eat the apple? That sounds kinda like reincarnation right there, to me.

I was "shown" my past lives through a type of hypnosis. But I was also totally aware of what was going on around me at the same time. It was not a dream or anything like that. Too long a story to recreate, but I walked away believing that what had been shown to me had happened at some point. Plus, there were things that were said to me in that meeting that no one could have known. Things that I had done while I was alone, in another country. Thoughts and such that came back. Words that were more memories than assumptions. Kinda like faith, it's impossible to describe unless you've been there.

Shirley McLane fucked us up with that sort of talk. I was no one special in any of those lives. I had some that I'd done bad things. Some were good. But none were so special that I would have been known internationally.

And quit trying to be a smart ass in this forum. Crawl back under your R&R rock. Thank you.

I was hoping you'd respond to this thread, Builder. :) Your previous posts about believing in some form of energy or life force led me to believe you might be open to this topic. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. :)
