An average family is thrust into the spotlight after the father commits a seemingly self-defense murder at his diner.

This movie was really gory, sexually and voilently explicit.. had a few comedic moments, but overall was good in my book.

Holy crap you got that right. The dude that Aragon was playing barely had a pulse, but when he got violent, it was like somebody flipped a switch and he became a killing machine.

This movie is the definition of gratuitous. I recommend that it be avoided at all costs. Not because of it's graphic natures, but because it is just plain stupid.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course, I'm a big Cronenberg fan and I like how he uses violence or the threat of violence as almost another character in his movies.

I took it as an examination of identity. Are we who we are or are we what we do. Also the theme of how violence is always flowing underneath even the most idyllic seeming of lives.

The violence and the reactions, often unexpected reactions, really define the characters. Crash played more to the sexual identies as it related to violence, this movie played more to the core of each individual. Tom, his wife, his son, etc.

Mortenson was remarkable, essentially playing two different characters. Amazing how his posture and body language even changed. Can't say enough about Maria Bello either.

I'm a big fan of Ed Harris, but I agree with Hoopsradio. It was a decent enough story, but it got way overblown by the graphic sex and violence. It's too bad, really. If there was a book, I bet it was good.

Not enough of Maria Bello. Not nearly enough.

Considering that the movie was all about violence and its effect on people, including the violent sex, doing some John Wayne "Bang Your Dead" depiction would have completly neutered the film.

No, it's not a movie for everyone, but the movie depicted brutality as honestly as any movie I can recall.
