    wtf?

only station left that did 60's and 70's (insert old bastard remark here).

now it appears they've changed to christian contemporary. not that there's anything wrong with that type of music, but the last oldies station around here is no more (insert Sirius or XM radio stickpokethingyhere).

There's a lot wrong with that music. Primarily, it fucking sucks.

    You are pretty old, though.

The thing that has killed off our oldie but Goldie stations is all those damn studies the advertisers have done that show the biggest audience for this type of music is the 40-60 year old baby boomer's. Those same studies show that a large majority in this crowd are more conservative and less likely to go out and buy their products. If you don't believe me try listening to the John Boy and Billy big show on 99.7 Charlotte. In the past couple of years this shows ratings have dropped after peaking in the mid-2000's.

    Welcome, NC
I quit listening to them years ago - they were funny in the 80's and up until about the mid 90's but they should have both already retired, and all their material is recycled crap from back then. A guy 55 years old calling himself John "Boy". Boring.

I like the old 60's and 70's music, but most of it I've heard so many times, I'm tired of it. Most of the music I listen to now is stuff I download and burn to CD's after I find it on youtube.

I never liked that fucking shit anyway. I mean, my parents listened to it and I developed a solid base for what music theoretically was back then, but it skewed what I thought of things.

One of those stations had a Motown Monday - which taught you that the only song James Brown had was I Feel Good. Guy didn't invent funk or anything. Otis Redding was really only Dock Of the Bay, I promise. It wasn't like Otis Redding is badass and that's just some song that he had that white people recognize.

They'd have a Beatles day and play all that early mophaired bullshit. I mean you have a full fucking day of Beatles and the only songs after 1965 they'd play were Eleanor Rigby and Sergeant Pepper. Thanks, idiot geezer station, for making me think the Beatles weren't all that good because you played only their worst songs. Same for the Stones.

They lost a lot of their audience when they quit being funny and started being political.

I would think an oldies station would play 50's and 60's. 95.7FM plays 60's & 70's. There's an AM station that plays the old stuff. I think it's 1210 but I'd have to check to be sure.

i can tolerate john boy and billy but the music NEVER changes. we used to have the radio in the lab set on 99.7 because it was better than country or rap....thats it though. this went on for 15 years.

the devil went down to georgia and long haired country boy, EVERY DAMN DAY. FUCK
