If you do that do you put Reiff at RT or do you plan to replace Gross? Iowa linemen have not had the best track record...

That's not really true. Gallery didn't live up to the hype and Bruce Nelson was crap, but aside from that they've mostly been good. And I'm down for cutting Wharton as I think his play has slipped.

I guess those two guys are the Iowa linemen I am most aware of so it affects my perception. I will not be heartbroken if we cut Wharton but if they do I hope they have a viable plan for the OL. Outside of Gross, Wharton and Kalil there is not much you can count on.....

Im in the trade down category. Looks like we could trade down to late teens or early twenties and still find some quality at a need position. Need that 3rd back or another 2.

However, should we stand pat i like:

    9) Kirkpatrick CR
    40) Alshon Jeffery WR
    104) Keenan Robinson OLB
    137) Aaron Henry S
    168) Emmanuel Acho OLB
    201) Sean Catthouse S

No Dline help im afraid so you gotta do some work in FA Marty.

    9. David DeCastro - G - Stanford
    40. Zach Brown - OLB - UNC
    104. Billy Winn - DT - Boise
    137. Shaun Prater - CB - Iowa
    168. Russell Wilson - QB - Wisconsin

    DeCastro or Reiff. Whatever.

Looked at a lot of CBs at 40: Minnifield (UVA), Boykin (UGA), Robinson (CFU), Hosley (VA Tech), Judie (Texas A&M). None of them seemed like they would pan out as a starter. Looked at Donta Hightower (LB - Bama) too. I really like him but he doesn't seem to fit us very well. Vinny Curry (DE - Marshall) was another option but ended up with Brown. He may flame out spectacularly but his upside is huge. Have to take the risk.

Winn at 104 looks like a solid penetrator. Team him with Ron Johnson as a clogger and we could be stout.

Prater is as good as any of the 2nd round CBs and is a tackler.

A couple of choices at 168. Casey Hayward (CB - VAndy), Christian Thompson (FS - SC State) or Edwin Baker (RB - Mich State) But I'm taaking Wilson as my Cam insurance. He wouldn't be nearly as effective as the big guy but we could still run the same style offense with him in there in an emergency.

His game tape is not very impressive, he seems to struggles with leverage.
If he hadn't run a 4.9 at the combine, no one would have been talking about him as a top 10 pick. He's just the flavor of the week, much like Brockers was right before the combine.

I thought you were dead against a guard in rd 1? I have always been of the mind to take the best player regardless of position and barring someone falling I'd love DeCastros nastiness

I went back and forth between Allen and Brown @ 40, but thought TE Dwayne Allen would be a safer pick. I also like Allen's attitude and desire to be great.
