I'm hoping he turns out to be Wes Welkerish...tough little slot receiver.

Steve Smith is going to take this kid under his wing and make him a clone. Just what the pick was about, imho.

if they were so enamored with the guy, they should have taken him instead of LaFell and his brick hands. If you're going to trade a #2 you do it to move ahead of Cleveland to take Clausen. No one else was going to take the guy and he'd have kept falling. They should have taken Tate in the 2nd and moved up for Clausen or taken Shipley in the 3rd.

The price was too high with a #2. I think Edwards has a lot of ability that will emerge initially returning punts and or kicks. It's not realistic to expect much out of him in 2010 at the slot. It was obvious that the Panthers had fallen in love with the guy but chances are at least 50/50 that he would have still been on the board in the 4th round.

It would have been really nice to have landed Tate.

The knocks on Tate are being a body catcher, lack of seperation, and bad route running. Those are some big issues in the NFL

I like lafell a ton more than Tate. Lafell is a big blocker downfield - that'll help spring more big runs. Lafell looks awesome. The qb play he was getting was questionable at lsu. Wasn't lafell a qb in hs?

I may be wrong, but I'll seem to remember hearing that AE went to APP to play QB. Some other schools, such as Clemson, wanted him to play receiver. Anyone else remember hearing this?
