8 Mile

Read about it before and kind of wrote it off, but I saw the preview this weekend and I'll say that it looks decent. You never know what you are getting with a singer/rapper who tries to act. Eminem better hope this film does better than Cool as Ice or you can kiss another white rapper goodbye.

 

I saw Kim Basinger is in this....shes not been in a movie in HOW long and she picks THIS one? Why?

 

I kind of like the new song to it. I mean, after I hear it 40 times I'll hate it but right now it's pretty cool.

 

mnm have been acting since the beginning of his music career. He should be able to pull off a decent movie.

 

just back from this movie...

i think eminem made the 'cross over' so to speak. the guy can act. this is not a ripoff. it is rated R of course.

he pulled it off, in my opinion. 3 stars out of 5. if this was based on his life, damn...

i think most of us here on TBR will be able to appreciate this movie. i recommend it. the lingo is definitely raw.

mattarific: i saw 'cool as ice.' i think that movie is cheesy. this one is not. 8 mile has content.

 

Curtis Hanson. He directed her in LA Confidential. She won an Oscar because of it, even though she was overrated.

 

I saw it

I heard it actually wasn't about his life, just paralleled it closely. Albeit Eminem is vulgar, raged, a social outcast by choice and not fit for most to listen to..... I have to say he is a true artist, and believe me, I'm not the rap type, but after I listened to his words, they were so very harsh but so very true, I was intrigued. I usually find myself feeling guilty after a few songs so I don't make it a habit of listening but I do respect him. The movie is worth seeing. There is some very witty dialogue, and it didn't slow down, but if you are easily offended, have your 'f' word meter on.

 

Don't bash kimmy you nasty man. Did you see her in hard country she was amazing.
