Gilbert went. I don't dislike missing out on him, as much as I wanted him I want a DT a lot more.

I like this kid, more upside than Jurrell Casey and Drake Nevis.

I liked Nevis but this guy is a better, more solid run stopper. No hate here.

    6'2, 300, 5.0 40, 29 reps, 4.56 20 shuttle, decent.

You think Atlanta giving up their entire draft this year and a 1st and 4th next year is better than us? I sure hope Julio Jones doesn't get hurt. He's good, but not worth all of that. What did Atlanta do to help their defense? Nothing.

The world is not coming to an end because we drafted a QB that may or may not be great. With risk can come great reward. There is a reason the good teams have franchise QB's and they don't let them enter free agency. We needed to take this risk. Newton has most of the tools to be great. It will be up to him how great.

If I recall there were a few mock drafts that had McClain going to us at 65.

We needed a DT. I had heard more about Nevis but maybe this guy will be good.

I hope we haven't just reached for McClain like we reached for Corvey Irvin 2years ago.

    Before the pick:

The Sporting News' Russ Lande has McClain going to the Carolina Panthers with the 1st pick on the 3rd Round. With Ron Rivera era starting off in Carolina, McClain would be the perfect addition to the Panthers new high pressure defense.
