that's so bad. I mentioned the comparison last night. The oh no, we suck again society. It only took, what, 80 or 90 some odd years to end their misery?

I'd better not hold my breath.

I just think that some of the UNCC fans have way crazy expectations (sorry, but I have to include you in that group). The bottom line is that some of you think that UNCC is on par with UNC, Duke, Wake, etc., when you aren't. You have a very nice program with a very above average coach. Of course there will be a good deal of the Niner fans that take that statement as an insult, which it is not.

But you have defenciencies, just like any non elite program - and to be fair, even the elite ones are playing crappy basketball, it's just that they are less crappy than everyone else.

Y'all also have quite an inferiority complex (not you in particular - the generic you) about all of this. To the point that you can't even stay rational when discussing things. Schedule strength (I believe you were particularly nutso about this one last year), why teams won't play you, the fact that you have not advanced past the first round in 25 years, etc.

Personally,I think that UNCC will be fine this year, and maybe even get that second win.

I see little to no difference between us and Duke except that they hit their FTs.

I've been wary of the UNC-CH comparisons because I think Felton would rip us a new one.

We are every bit as good as your so called elites at most positions. But the key in college basketball is the PG followed by the big man. Iti/Nance are servicable, even compared to the elites, and Withers is a stud any coach would drool over. The rest of the equation is just having the clout to dictate your own schedule and get that extra call from the refs due to your name.

I fell no inferiority to the programs you mentioned because I know we can compete with them on a day to day basis. What we cannot do, until we get a floor general, is realistically expect a Final Four type season. Final Four teams have great PGs. That's one reason why I thought the disrespect of St Joe's last year was obnoxious. Jameer Nelson was a stud and West only made him better.

We lost Jarrett Jack to Ga Tech a few years ago, and we were pitched Paul early in his career when we might have had a chance to establish a poistion of strength with him, but we didn't take it seriously enough. Too bad we failed both times. We could really be something this season with either guy at the helm.

Mitch can get into the lane. Why he attempted to do so only once per half, I don't know. Once in the second half he penetrated and kicked the ball to Withers. Where was Withers? Yep, at the high post. Withers scored granted but I would much rather have him down low drawing double teams or playing one-on-one.

I don't care if Jason Kidd is the PG, Withers isn't going to get the ball down low if Withers does not position himself down low. Demarco used to get the ball at the top of the key too. If he didn't shoot, he would pass and then slide down low. Everyone would clear out for him so as to put him in a one-on-one situation or get a double team. We don't do that for Withers or Withers doesn't do it for himself. Take your pick but either is unacceptable in my book.

I understand this was simply because of panthersgo jumping all over UNC's loss. I frankly wanna see Charlotte win their conference and make it to the big dance, but I simply was using the old "What goes around comes around" method on him.

The niners will be asolid team this year and could legitmately win their conference and make some noise. Overall they need to get more outta Iti so Withers can breath and obviously they need to hit their free throws.

As for the Tar Heels if they play every night like they did in the 1st half against BYU there's not a team in the country that can stop them. Though I don't expect that. UNC needs to learn to keep that same defensive intensity no matter who they are playing and no matter which players are on the court. Furthermore Q. Thomas needs to learn FAST how to run the point, because its painfully obvious that without Felton on the floor they look in disarray. I'm hoping he learns it real damn soon, because Ray WILL wear down and its possible he gets hurt and is out. So for the Heels its EXTREMELY important that Thomas and Miller be effective Point Guards in his absence. Maybe not just with ablity, but also with intensity.

I'm wondering if we're not having a chicken and the egg argument here. I too would like to see Withers setup and play like DJ did. At this point, I'm beyond caring who is to blame, just so long as it happens.

Was it just me, or was he a little rusty & soft at first last night? The first two 3's he launched looked like a freshly awoken, groggy cat stretching his legs, like they were him warming up.
