    ND for Stanford

Here is the blurb on Sportsline. They got the name right!

Cleveland starter Jason Stanford gave up two runs, five hits and four walks in his five-inning major league debut.

Stanford, an undrafted free agent signed by the Indians in 1999 after completing his college career at Charlotte, went 8-3 with a 3.13 ERA for Triple-A Buffalo. He replaced the demoted Ricardo Rodriguez in the rotation.

Though a little wild, Stanford twice worked his way out of trouble to keep Cleveland within one

I watched him in between Pettitte's great Yankees' performance ... DirecTV channel surfing! He looked good, a little excited, but who wouldn't be? And, it's tough to pitch in a tin can with a huge hanky for a roof and a nasty rug in place of grass. I read last night that the Indians were bringing him up for one start and then -- probably -- sending him back. Aside from four walks, maybe he changed their minds. Hope so.
Wonder if Coach Hibbs called him. Wonder if he knew.

Yes great pitching by Andy today...I wanted to watch the Indians/Twins game, thought I could since I have Direct TV and all of the FOX Sports channels, but when MLB games are on the channel gets blacked out...fricken BS, its so they make you buy the MLB season package.

yes Real, Hibbs knew. one tidbit you may not know, Eric Wedge the Indians manager, played with Coach Hibbs at Wichita, and Hibbs coached him, and they have been in frequent contact concerning Stanford and his progress.

    2002,
I ordered the sports pack on Directv with all the Foxsports channels yesterday at 2 oclock to watch Stanford pitch, and was raging when I learned of the blockouts shortly after. I did always wonder why people bought the MLB pack when you could see alot of them on Foxsports, now I know that answer.

Watched every pitch of Stanford's outing yesterday and was pleased with his effort. Pitched well when he got in jams and actually showed some pretty big nuts a few times. Kept falling behind in the count which was unlike him, but he looked to keep his composure very well, especially after getting called for the automatic ball for going to his mouth on the mound. Sometimes that is all it takes to lose it. But the Tribe has to be happy he kept them in the game, a game they came back to win. That will bode well for him. He has definitely bulked up the last few years.

Hopefully Hammond and Robinson will get a shot soon too.

    grad,

    More like Maine and Hammond.

Bo is down to .238 and only 2 homers. :(

Darryl Clark has a shot in Milwaukee next spring IMO.
