    48. Art Jones, DT, Syracuse. Depth/competition with Louis Leonard for our NT. Considered WRs, but didn't fall in love with anyone in this pick range.

    78. Jordan Shipley, WR/RS, Texas. Simply put, the more I see, hear, and read about this guy, the more I like him and the more I believe he can help us right from day 1.

    112. Javier Arenas, CB, Alabama. Adds some much-needed depth and competition at CB, and according to NFL.com's scouting report is an "excellent" special teamer.

    175. George Selvie, DE, South Florida. Should be decent on special teams and push Charles Johnson for playing time. Tough, effort guy.

    202. Seyi Ajirotutu, WR, Fresno State. Plays much taller than his measurables. Has a knack for making acrobatic catches, especially on the sidelines and in the red zone.

    204. Micah Johnson, LB, Kentucky. Should provide good LB depth, especially inside, and contribute on special teams.

    223. Blair White, WR, Michigan State. John Fox guy at receiver and decent special teamer.

    249. Ali Villenueva, TE, Army. Dude is 6'10", and seriously tough.

It's okay, but I'm not thrilled. Surprisingly, the toughest pick for me was #48 overall.

I dunno that Lafell is our guy. I mean, in a way he is because he fits the guy who's always been across from Smith but I guess I figured whoever it was would have more deep speed. He's not a bad WR, though.

I have to wonder what the fuck they were thinking putting Cam Thomas that high.

i'd like lafell if we didn't have smith talking about his growing desire to soon take a rest out at shady pines retirement home.

i wouldn't want shipley with our 2nd round pick. nor gilyard. roberts or tate would be nice to get.

cody...well...maybe like jenkins in he does have some degree of atheleticism and a touch of quickness for a lardo. but his weight, like jenkins, would probably always be a battle. and for all we know dt isn't even on the radar.

(trying to keep it back in this thread)

yeah, I don't see Cody being a fit. We got rid of one guy who was that type guy and let the other walk. I wouldn't be against a guy who can realistically help the run D at that point, but I'd want a guy who can play within our D.

Cam Thomas is ranked that high because teams desperately need a NT for their 3-4. Otherwise he's not ranked that high.

I've seen Lafell play a lot being down in LA and I'm not sold he's anything great. He's physical but not sure we want to go in that direction again.

I like Arenas and he'd upgrade that PR spot instantly.

I wonder if there is any chance we might move up a few spots if one of the higher rated WRs were to fall? I am not talking about giving up a future number one pick again just moving up a few spots. Maybe giving 48 and 175 to move up to 35 so we can take Benn.

I really don't see Cody making those pocket collapsing plays Jenkins did.

no, i don't think that either so much. it's more going back to after the two top names at the start of the draft, who's the 3rd? that would be assuming we'd be looking for a dt, and that one would be available at/near our pick. or what might be available if we do indeed follow our history and make some draft day deals.

my guess is cody would be there, but that would assume we are looking for a dt, but i don't think that would/should be the case.

for the record i think the dt from tennessee is probably the 3rd ranked guy, but he's not a jfg from what i've read.

just nerdy draft speculation. nothing more. i think we go wr, unless there is no one that is a reasonable value for that pick. hopefully the jags will have already picked tebow by then.

Mount Cody doesn't fit our D, we need pass rushing DT's. Guys like Brian Price from UCLA, Arthur Jones from Syracuse, D'Anthony Smith, LaMarr Houston, Linval Joseph are guys that fit what we do on defense.

Geno Atkins looks like a Meeks pick. He's small at DT, at 6'1, 290 at best, but 4.75 40, great first step, great feet, lifted huge, and we love the program. He's gotta work on his hands and his tackling, but he reminds me a lot of Jarron Gilbert, another very athletic tweener I liked last year (who incidentally did absolutely nothing last year).
